Sacrificial Slaughter Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Right now we are touring in support of a split release we just put out on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.
    

2. How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the split album and how does it differ from the previous recordings.

The tracks we did for the split are relentless.  Aggressive, pissed off and in your face from start to finish.  Definitely our best work to date. Previous recordings document a lot of different stages in the band and a lot of trying to find our sound.  From Death Metal to Grindcore. gorey, guttural, drum machines, we've done it all.  But I think we have finally found ourselves in the music and really enjoy playing the new tunes we have out today.  Everything we write gets better and better and more fun to play.  Thats what its all about.

3. What is your opinion of the other band on the split?

Enfuneration is great. We met them on the road in 2010.  We played in their hometown Oklahoma City and they impressed the fuck out of us to say the least.  More like gave us a run for our money.  Also their hospitality during our stay in their town was unmatched.  So we got to know them real well and when the idea came about of doing a split release I knew exactly who I wanted to work with.

4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new recording?

I would like to think we have progressed in this category.  Breaking away from the cliche, generic, blood guts and gore Death Metal lyrics and referring to more everyday life situations that people can relate to.  Often in our case that consists of Whiskey, Weed and pussy.  But those are topics that we deal with in many ways on an everyday basis.  Even topics from problems with the law to drinkin a bottle so you dont get the shakes, or just straight up whoopin someones ass.  These things happen in our lives.  Some people think thats cheesy.  But we dont just play this music.  It is a lifestyle and we live it every single day.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

I started the band 10 years ago with the current Gravehill/Exhumed axe player BodyBag Bob.  I remember jamming in my parents garage throwing around different ideas for band names and he actually said "Sacrificial Slaughter" as a joke.  I thought it was bad ass, so after extensive research online I was able to confirm that the name was available and it stuck. 

6. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Someone actually asked me this question the other day and I rattled off my top five.  I think i'll stick with those and say Switzerland,Germany, Mexico, Chicago and New York City.  These are places we have had extremely successful and fun shows.  They are all memorable for different reasons but alike in the ways of big, energetic crowds hanging by our every note. There is no better feeling then sending a sea of people into an all out frenzy with the power of music.  Our stage presence is intense.  Whether there is 5 people or 500, we pride ourselves in giving 100% in our performance and playing our hardest each and every night.

7. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

8. When can we expect a full length recording.

  After this tour the writing process will commence once again.  Ideally we would like to have a full length out in the Spring of 2012.  Hopefully our new split release will have success and generate enough positive feedback and label interest to propel us back into the studio early next year.

 9. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by death/thrash fans? 

We have connected with thousands of fans all around the world and the reception has been extremely positive.  Like I said before, we reach out to our fellow metal brothers and sisters and relate to them on many levels through our lyrical themes.  Combine that with the unprecedented aural assault of our music that we like to call "Extreme Fucking Death Thrash" and it has been a winning concoction for us so far.

 10. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?

Right now I am happy with the direction of the material we are creating.  Sky is the limit and the songs get better and better with each one we write.  In the future I hope to get us in a real studio with a real producer that can hopefully help us really capture our true sound and full potential.  Everything we've done to date has been self funded, self produced and in some cases self recorded.  Our next release we hope to have more label support and work with new people that have these skills and capabilities  

 11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We have been fortunate enough to tour with some of our favorite bands like Pestilence, Master, Vital Remains, Goatwhore, Anal Blast and others.  These are all bands we were fans of from the beginning and having the opportunity to work along side them has been very influential.  A short list of other bands that have influenced our style might look something like Monstrosity, Misery Index, Obituary, At the Gates, Massacre, Autopsy, Aborted, etc.

 12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

These days the music consumes a large portion of our lives.  It's a cutthroat business in this underground scene and there are thousands of bands out there trying to make it just like us.  In a genre where just about everything has been done a million times and in some cases beaten to death, it can sometimes be hard to keep your head above water.  The strong will survive and the weak will be cast aside.  So we work hard and dedicate the majority of our time to making sure we continue to thrive and stand out amongst this blood red sea of bands.

Sacrificial Slaughter/Enfuneration/American Death Thrash/Hore Fore Pain Productions/2011 CD Split Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  California's  Sacrificial  Slaughter  and  Oklahoma's  Enfuneration  and  we  will start  of  the  review  with  Sacrificial  Slaughter  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death/thrash  metal.

  Drums  range  from  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  in,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  death  and  thrash  metal  together, will  the  lead  guitars  are  very  distorted  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  all  deep  sounding  death  metal  growls  with  a  brief  use  of  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Anti  Christianity  and  gore, as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  heavy  and  brutal  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Sacrificial  Slaughter  are  a  very  great  sounding  death/thrash  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  this  band  out.  RECEMMONDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Reign  of  The  Hammer"  and  "Compund  Fracture.  RECEMMONDED.

  Next  up  is  Enfuneration  from  Oklahoma  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal.

  In  my  opinion  Enfuneration  are  a  very  great  brutal  sounding  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check out  this  band.  RECEMMONDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bearing Their  Scars"  and  "Stygian  Darkness".  RECEMMONDED  .

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  great  split  with  Sacrificial  Slaughter  having  the  best  music  and  I  would  recemmond  this  to  all  death  metal  fans.  RECEMMONDED  BUY.

    

Morta Skuld Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band members these days?

Some of us are married and some divorced. Myself I have a 19 yr old daughter and a 9 yr old son. Kent has 3 kids and Jason (o'connell) has 2 and Kevin has two as well. Myself and Jason Hellman went on to do a band called 9mm solution, which did two albums and also toured. Jef went on to several projects as well. Kent, Jason O'Connell don't play at all. 


2. I have read that over the years the band changed it names, what was the decision behind that?

what happened is Morta Skuld broke up and after a year or so I couldn't seem to find a band or anyone I really wanted to jam with. No one around me would give up the Morta history and wanted to have a good name for the new project. So when I wanted to rename the project some fans got upset, we played under the Morta moniker for a while and then the same fans felt it wasn't cool, So then changed the name to MS2. Which eventually turned into 9mm solution. 


3. How would you describe the lyrical content of the lder music?

It is tought for me to say, I'm so close to it. I had alot of help on Prolong from Jef. Him and I had a different view of what the lyrics should be, I wanted to be all dark and Satan stuff, And he wanted them to have more thought behind them. We then came togther and said let's be dark but talk and write about the act of certian things that may have happned back in the dark ages.

4. What was the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

Brian from viogression actually helped me with that, we were sitting around the table and he just had a few names written down, one was Puss and other weird things, and then he said the name and I was like that's it! 


5. What where some of the best shows that the band played live and how would you describe your stage performance?

Do date our Metal fest shows always went very well, But the show we opened for Slayer was by far the best, we were in are home town on our home turf and just brought it. 


6. Recently Relpase Records re-issued your older demos, what are your feeling about the re-issue?

It's a good story, Eric Grief and I were hanging out at my house and he asked if I had the old demo's we did on CD. I said yeah but they don't sound very good, I then went into the studio to clean the tracks up. Couple months went by and Jef and i crossed paths again and I mentioned to him I cleaned up the demo's. He then took a listen and was like I can clean this up even more and fix some stuff, then we went back in the studio 2 more times and mastered the final CD. I'm very proud of this work and happy Relpase Decided to release this, it sounds great and feel it still stands the test of time. 


7. I know that over the years the band was on a few record labels, out off all the ones that you worked with, which one do you feel that did the most to support your music?

Hands down Peaceville was awesome for us and really helped us along with are career. 


8. On a worldwide level how was your music recieved by death metal fans?

We had a lot of great response from fans, the bigger fan base was in the UK and oversea more so then the US. We were selling records and playing out with are favorite bands. 


9. What where some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Back in the day we were all heavy into Metallica and Testament, and thrash in general. But before I started playing Death metal i was really into Sabbath and Ozzy and Alice cooper. With music being so different these days i'm very picky as too what I listen to and just feel there are so many bands and just too much to choose from. I listen to Morbid angel still and the new Forbidden is awesome, Mnemic and Threat signal are two of my favorite bands these days, and the new Fear Factory is awesome too. 


10. What role did Satanism and Occultism play in the music?

At first alot, and then Jef joined and wasn't confortable with the content, so we agreed to write about the act of or feeling one would feel if they were nailed to a cross or have a parasite inisde of them. Eric and I would read through different books of religion and and the occult and that's kinda where it started. 


11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

To be honest not alot, the other guys have there wives and stuff, if I'm not with my kids I'm having a cold one and or hangin at the music store checking out the guitars, I do like going to see movies quite a bit. Other then that i"m pretty broing, I love to play. 


12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Morta Skuld/Through The Eyes Of Death-The Early Demos/Relapse Records/2011 CD_Reissue Review

 Morta  Skuld  are  a  band  from  Wisconsin  that  where  around  in  the  90-'s  and  played  a  very  heavy,  dark  and  occult  form  of  death  metal;  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  early  90's  demos  which  where  re-issued  by  Relapse  Records  as  "Through  The  Eyes  of  Death".

  Drums  range  from  slwo,  midpaced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  in  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  tone  with  some  dark  sounding  death  metal  riffi9ng.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  midpaced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  also  have  a  thrash  edge  and dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  in  on  ocassion,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark,  melodic,  primitive  and  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  sounding  death  metal  growls  with  some  horror  film  samples  being  used  on  one  song,  while  the  lyrics  touch  on  dark,  occultic,  satanic  anti  christian  and  gory  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  heavy  and  dark  sound  to  it  while  still  having  that  raw  demo  feeling  to  them.

  In  my  op0inion  Morta  Skuld  where  a  very  good  early  90's  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECEMMONDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sacrificial  Rite"  "Preacher  Of  Lies'  "Of  Evil"  and  "Eternal  Suffering'.  RECEMMONDED  BUY.

Perversity Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Kazatel: Well, we have released our fourth album "Ablaze" via Lavadome Productions on August 31st. Besides that, we are planning to play some gigs in Slovakia to promote it. And also we are making some interviews for zines, radios and other promotional stuff.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous releases?

Kazatel: Our new album was recorded in the professional studio Klakson, so the sound is very unique and of course more obscure and we are really satisfied with it.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?

Kazatel: On our demos and the first two albums the lyrics were mainly written by Jozef (guitars), they were about hatred, wars and other social issues. On our third album the lyrics were written by myself, except two of them were done by Jozef. They were about the dark corners of human mind, apocalypse and heresy. On our new album the lyrics were written by myself and they are about blasphemy, occultism and devil worship. But we dont wanna be seen as a　satanic death metal band.

4. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Kazatel: As far as　I　can remember...the best shows that we played,were supports for Suffocation and Vital Remains. But every show is a　good show for us. And how can I　describe our stage performance? It´s very simple, come to visit a gig and you will see:)

5. Do you have an ytouring plans fo rthe new release?

Kazatel: Like I　said...we are planning to play some gigs here in Slovakia. Maybe we will do some shows in the Czech Republic or Poland. Time will tell.

6. On a worldwide level how have death metal fans worldwide react to the 　new album?

Kazatel: Until these days we have received many e-mails and reactions of fans are very good. Also some reviews have been made, so the worldwide response is really good.

7. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

Kazatel: We will do what we like...pure blasphemous death metal at its best.

8. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced the sound of the new album and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Kazatel: Like a　death metal band we were and are influenced or inspired by many bands. Some of them are Incantation, Suffocation, Immolation or Deicide, but we dont wanna be described as a　copy of them. And what about me? Well, I　don´t like gospel music and technoshit...but I　can listen to everything from prog-rock till goregrind. I　have many favourite styles and bands.

9. What role does Occultsim play in you rmusic and how would you describe your views on this topic?

Kazatel:Occultism is a　very good theme to discuss, but we have no time to do that.But I　have always been inspired by it from the very childhood.I have really been enchanted by everything that has dealt with it.I own some grimoires,books and poems in my collection.So,You can see me as a　laic student and fan of it, that likes to read about it and writes lyrics for his band.

10. Outside of music what are som eof you rinterests?

Kazatel: Well,my band and whole musicianship is not my main income, it´s my hobby.I am employed as a　security officer, so sometimes I　have no time to rehearse.

11. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Perversity/Lavadome Productions/2011 CD Review

  Perversity  are  a  band  from  Slovakia  that  plays  a  very  dark  occultic  form  of  brutal  death  metal  in  the  old  school  vein  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Ablaze"  which  was  released  by  Lavadome  Productions.

  Drums  range  from  midpaced  to  fast  drumming  with  alot  of  brutal  blast  beats  being  thrown  in,  while  the  piano  which  is  only  used  on  the  intro's  brings  a  very  tragic,  dark  and  evil  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  sounds  very  strong  and  powerful  with  riffs  that  dominate  throughout  the  album.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  midpaced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  in  the  old  school  vein  that  are  very  brutal  and  heavy  sounding  with  alot  of  skill  being  utilized  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  distorted  and  technical  sounding  death  metal  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  with  a  good  amount  of  high  pitched  screams  being  thown  in  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Necrophillia  and  other  dark  themes,  as  for the  production  it  has  a  very  heavy,  poweful  and professional  sound  to  it  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  coming  out  with  a  very  brutal  sound.

  In  my  opinion  Perversity  are  a  very  good  brutal  occultic  death  metal band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECEMMONDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Behind  The  Diabolical"  "Merciless Messiah"  "Necrophilliac  Beast"  and  "Blood  Of  Hastur".  RECEMMONDED  BUY.

Supreme Pain Interview

> 1. Can you update us on what is going on with the band these days?
As you maybe know our new record came just out, so now we are preparing for the live shows.We have also practise with a session Bass player  at the moment because Alesa is pregnant but after this she will come back in the band. Also i like to say that the reactions on this new records are absolute amazing.

> 2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it
> differs from previous releases?
I think this record is much more dark evil death metal .. the other ones are where more normal brutal death.
We also had this already in mind before we started creating new tracks .. that it still sounds like Supreme pain but more dark .. and it turnt out killer.

> 3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release
> explores?
When the record is more dark and evil than you can image that the lyrics on this record are also like this.We try to make by every track a cool story.

> 4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
By a brutal band like us you need also a cool name that fits by your sound .. and a name that stays easy in your head .. so Erwin the guitar player came with this name and we all liked it. But there is no deeper meaning behind the band name.

> 5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
> how would you describe you stage performance?
We didn,t play that much live show .. but the ones we did where really good. Our music stands for Brutality and Aggression and that is what you get when you come to see us. We give our selfs for 100% and not less.

> 6. What are the touring plans for the new album, any plans to hit North
> or South America?
Man .. that will be so amazing when this can happen with Supreme pain. We are prepard to work really hard but than also people have to ask for us. We really hope that with the new record the band will be bigger and that we can start doing cool live shows.

> 7. What is going on with the other projects these days?
Now first i like to say that Bastiaan from Supreme pain joint Sinister and i am really happy about this because he is great guitar player. For my self i still do Absurd Universe (Sinister project but fucking cool old school death/thrash) the record will come out late October on Punishment 18 records. I have also Weapons to hunt .. we recorded already our c.d but now we have to wait how like to bring this out for us.

> 8. On a worldwide level how has your new album been recieved by death
> metal fans?
Man .. the reactions are so amazing. Before you only can hope that people and magazines will like the record .. but till now its so much more than we expected .. we are happy and pround because we worked our ass off for this record.

> 9. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?
For sure we will go on with the sound that we have now dark and evil death metal.We from supreme pain are all death metal lovers so we will never play anything els than this.

> 10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your
> music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I think you can hear in our music .. Morbid angel (old one) Behemoth and maybe some Suffocation .. but NO COPIE !!! we do our own thing and try to make supreme pain better and better. Now i only can speak for my self .. but i lisen alot to Suffocation(the best) and to  new bands that came out .. like Ichor (great band from Germany) and alot more.

> 11. Outside of music, what are some of your interests?
That is my family i have to say .. but after my family comes music .. music is my hobby and like to do this the best i can and spend all my free time in this.
