Cydia/Evil Sun/Metal Scrap Records/2011 CD Review

  Cydia  are  a  band  from Russia  that  mixes  death  metal  with  metalcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Evil  Sun"  which  was  released  by  Metal Scrap Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  in  at  times,  while  the  synths  which  are  only  used  as  a  sound  effect  bring  an  atmospheric  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  death  metal,  thrash  and  metal  core  together  with  some  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  music  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars which  are  only  utilize  briefly  they  use  finger  picking  to  enhance  the  darkness  of  the  music.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  deep  death  metal  and  metalcore  growls  and  screams  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  rap/groove  metal  type  vocals, while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Russia  with  themes  that  cover  dark,, evil  and  hateful  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  while  this  is  not  my  favorite  style,  I  still  feel  that  Cydia  stands  out  from  the  rest  of this  genre  and  creates  interesting  music  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  death/groove  metal/metalcore,  you  should  check  out  this  band. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dance  of  The Death"  "Evil  Sun"  "Stalker"  and  "Alive  Too  Much". RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Cryogenic Implosion/Creation Of The New World/Metal Scrap Records/2011 CD Review

  Cryogenic  Implosion  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album  "Creation  Of  The  New  World"  which  was  released  by  Metal  Scrap  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced    to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  tone  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording,  as  for  the synths which  are  only  utilized  briefly  they  bring  a  very  dark  and  symphonic  sound  to  the  music.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  with  a  great  amount  of  harmonics  being  thrown  into  the  music  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  on  the  recording  they  use  finger  picking  to  enhance  the  darkness  of  the  music.

  Vocals  are  all  deep  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  world  degradation,  war  and  darkness,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it  and  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Cryogenic  Implosion  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal death  metal  band  that  is  not  a  carbon  copy  of  other  bands  in  this  genre  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style  of  music,  you  should  check  out  this  band. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Delete  Humanity"  "Creation  Of  The  New  World"  and  "Mechanization  Of  The  Light".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Druknroll/On The Knife Blade/Metal Scrap Records/2012 CD Review

  Druk'n'roll  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  very  symphonic  form  of  metal  mixed  in  with  some  thrash  and  death  metal  influences  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "On  The  Knife"  which  was  released  by  Metal  Scrap  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  keyboards  bring  in  a  very  dark  and  symphonic  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  traditional,  symphonic,  thrash,  and  death  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  in addition  there  is  a  good  amount  of  hard  rock  influences  in  the  music  as  well  as  some  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  and  skilled  sounding  heavy  metal/hard  rock  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  they  use  finger  picking  to  bring  an  80's  hard/rock  sound  to the  music,  in  addition  there  is  a  brief  use  of  slide  guitar  playing  being  used  on  one  song.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  normal  and  rough  clean  singing  vocals  mixed  in  with  some  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover    everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Druknroll  are  a  very  great  sounding  symphonic  heavy  metal/hard  rock/death  metal  hybrid  and  if  you  are  looking  for  something  that  is  different,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Face  To Face"  "Live  Outlaw"  "On  The  Knife  Blade"  and "Whirl  By  Cloud". RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Six Feet Under/Undead/Metal Blade/3 Song Sampler

  Six  Feet  Under  are  a  band  from Florida  that  has been  around  since  the  90s  with  alot  of  veterans  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  Undead  Sampler  which  will  will  be  released  by  Metal  Blade Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming with  some  blast  beats  being  used  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  old  school  death  metal riffs  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  old  school  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  with  some  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  and  heavy  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  good  sample  of  the  new  Six  Feet Under  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Frozen  At  The  Moment  Of  Death".  RECOMMENDED.

Hour Of Penance/Sedition/Prosthetic Records/2012 CD Review

  Hour  Of  Penance  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  brutal  and  technical  form  of  anti  religion  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Sedition"  which  was  released  by  Prosthetic  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy,  brutal  and  technical  sounding,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  technical  and  melodic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads  that  utilize  a  great  amount  of  skill  and  talent.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  mixed  in  with  some  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  anti  religion  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  powerful,  heavy,  and professional  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Hour  Of  Penance  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  technical  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.   Deadborn  are  a  band  from Germany  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  technical  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Mayhem  Maniac  Machine"  which  was  released  by  Apostasy  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Desultor  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  progressive  from  of  death  metal  mixed  in  with  some  thrash  and  power  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Masters  of  Hate"  which  was  released  by  Abyss  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thorwn  in  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  synths  which  are  only  used  briefly  on  the  intros  and  outro  they  enhance  the  darkness  of  the  music.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  brutal  progressive  death  metal with  thrash  and  power  metal  mixed  in  with  a  great  amount  of  technical  and  melodic  riffing  to  create  a sound  of  their  own,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  and  technical  sounding  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  they  use  full  chords  to  add  more  variety  to  the  music.

  Vocals  are  mostly  clean  singing  power  metal  vocals  mixed  in  with  some  deep  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  hateful,  violent  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Desultor  are  a  very  great  and  original  sounding  power/progressive/death  metal  hybrid  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Monday"  "And  So  We  Bleed"  and  "The  Luxury  Of  Pain".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
