Deadborn Interview

.01. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hey, Kevin from Deadborn here, I´m the new guy in the band and I was assigned to answer your questions, because Mario (Vocals) doesn´t have internet. He lives far away from civilization in the german black forest and don´t want to appear in the public too much.He leaves his forest just for gigs and rehearsals. The other guys in the band (Jo Morath – Guitars & Slawek Foltyn – Drums) speaking
just german with a weird dialect and polish. These days we´re waiting for the release of Mayhem Maniac Machine (April 20 via Apostasy Records),rehearsing for forthcoming gigs and collecting some new riffs for a new album.I´m a new member since december 2011, so I wasn´t involved in the songwriting/recording for MMM.

02. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous releases?
I think on Decades of Decapitation (first EP) and Stigma Eternal you can hear that Necrophagist was a big influence (Mario and Slawek played in Necro long time ago). The riffs/songs are way more complex than on MMM.The new album contains more groove, more brutal and catchy riffs.Especially the sound is a statement against all the new overproduced metal records which came out in the last years. You can hear that humans played on this record. It´s rough, it´s true, it´s Deadborn!

03. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
The lyrical themes are most about maniac minds, socialy critical, and pure insanity…Mario writes the lyrix and come up with ideas about titles and concepts for the projects.

04. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
It´s like the alpha and omega, you are dead since your birth. Maybe someone think it sounds kinda stereotype styled, but the bands name is really profound and true! I think Deadborn is the perfect name for a Death Metal band!

05. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe yourstage performance?
I´ve played my first gig with Deadborn in january 2012 and it was terrible (extreme soundproblems etc.), but I think the guys played some really cool shows and tours in the past with bands like Hate Eternal,Dying Fetus and Cephalic Carnage and festivals like the Party San Open Air in Germany.

06. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
Hopefully we play a tour with our label mates Obscenity in the end of 2012 and maybe some festivalshows. Some gigs in the USA would be great! We play for a bottle of whisky and cheap prostitutes!

07. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by fans of technical dath metal?
I think the people like it. Well, it´s not realy the usual technical thing….. and it´s not “overtechnical” . We got a lot of old school elements in our music as well as Hardcore or other Metal styles. Our aim isn´t beeing technical, it´s more having a brutal sound with catchy riffs and really cool hooklines.

08. Currently you are signed to Apostasy Records, how did you get in contact with this label andhow would you describe the support that they have given you so far?
Tomasz Wisniewski (Apostasy) asked Deadborn a few months ago for the collaboration.I think until now they´ve done a very good job.Good communication between the band and the label and a big support for promotion and all this stuff.Tomasz is also the singer of the german death metal band Dawn of Disease so he knows what a musician/band wants to be satisfied.

09. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
A crossover between old school death metal and some more balkan style influences. No sterile hypertechnical metal without a soul. We bring back the rough sound of the 90s and maybe add some new elements like acoustic guitars into our music.I´m tired of this neoclassical shredding, so I try to explore new ways to create interesting solos for Deadborn. I really like Marios “less is more” soloing style (he played all solos on the last records), so I try to combine our styles in the future.

10. Are there any current side projects besides this band or is this a full time line-up?
I´m the only member in the band who plays in different bands, but my and the other guys main focus is Deadborn.

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I think bands like Suffocation had a huge impact on the music of Deadborn. As for me I´m listening to all kinds of music like death/black/whatever metal, flamenco, rock and so on.But especially the (death) metal scene bored me in the last years. It seems that a lot of bands just focus on a high technical level than on good songwriting.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I know that Jo (guitar) restore old cars. Mario and Slawek are hunting wildhogs in the Black Forest and eat them…......hmm...I don´t know. I found a new hobby in snake breeding (ball pythons), but I´m a absolute beginner in this metier.Hopefully I will breed some crazy python morphs in the future...

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thank you for the interview and the support!Stay trve...or something like this.....

Davidian Interview

> 1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

- Hi! This is Alex , Drummer of Davidian. Our new album "Our Fear Is Their Force" was released some days ago, so right now we´re still busy planning a video shoot, release some new t- shirts and looking for shows!
>
> 2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it
> differs from previous releases?

- "Our Fear Is Their Force" is sounding more "adult" than the previous releases, in terms of the songwriting and the whole production. Even the voice of our new shouter Tobi makes DAVIDIAN sounding stronger than ever.
>
> 3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores
> with the new release/

- The main topics are social-, economic and politic problems. We don't intend to act like saviors, we're also trapped in this circle, but we want people to realize what's going on. Those are not topics you talk about everyday and most people don't realize it until you show it in an extremer way. Who cares about third world problems, if you get your stuff (food, clothing, entertainment electronics...) cheaper than all others. People have to realize what's going on and maybe they can work on changing some of their opinions and actions.
>
> 4. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
> how would you describe your stage performance?

- Our stage performance is very energetic, rough and pure. A real metal performance to bang your head off. We have played many shows, good and bad ones, but the show at the Summer Breeze Open Air last year and the show in Switzerland with Hatebreed are definately some highlights.
>
> 5. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?

- Not yet, at the moment we´re searching for good offers of a booking agency to be able go on tour as soon as we can!
>
> 6. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by fans of
> thrash and death metal?

- People like our stuff. With our new label Massacre Records and our new album we´re able to reach more people in other countries. Today the internet is also an important instrument to use for reaching people around the world, before all Facebook. More and more people, for example from Indonesia, Brazil, USA, Canada, Australia etc., get to know DAVIDIAN and listen to our songs.
>
> 7. Are there any other projects besides this band or is this a full time
> line up?

- This is a full-time line-up. Almost everybody in DAVIDIAN had offers from other bands or projects, for example Micha played in a Old-School Death Metal band (Immortal Rites) beside DAVIDIAN for some years, but the priority was always DAVIDIAN.
>
> 8. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

- We dont know exactly, we dont care too much in which direction our music goes, because we play the music we feel. Maybe there will be more blastbeats or breakdowns, more melodies or even a ballad?!
>
> 9. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music
> and also what are you listening to nowadays?

- Everybody in DAVIDIAN is a music lover and since ever we listen to many different kinds of rock/metal music. Mainly we listen to a lot of Metal-/Deathcore, Thrashmetal, Hardcore and even a lot of technical Death Metal as well. Even some Hardrock, alternative/prog/indie rock or some a cool pop or dubstep song too. If you´ll see a playlist with some our favourite songs you´ll think it could be an awesome list for a radio show :)!
>
> 10. Outside of music what are some of your interests/

- Tobi is very much into sports. He´s skateboarding, snowboarding, going to fitness clubs etc. Since theres not many time between our day job and our band, everybody is doing something: some sports, go out with friends, playing video games or spend time with our girlfriends :).
>
> 11. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

- Thank you very much for your interest in this interview and in DAVIDIAN! Visit us at www.davidian.de, www.facebook.com/DAVIDIANofficial, come to our concerts, buy our CD! Dont rip that shit, support the music you love!
