Resurgency Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

Hello there!Yes..The band started in August 2009,from members of other death metal acts ,that  had the same aspect and influences in death metal and wanted to revive the whole spirit of it and embrace it.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

Our musical sound is an approach to the old school death metal scene. An attempt to reach all this and of course to express our personal taste under the influences but also our expierences individualy.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

It's all about chaos, darkness and our vision of the anti-universe...

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

The name means the revival or renewal.. a name that could express fully what our music is all about.Resurgency came out as the one forfilling it ...in this case the mirroring of our lyrical topics and the
rejuvenation and evocation of eternal spirits of Death Metal...

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Well, all the gigs we played so far was a special thing for us.Each and everyone was a burst so we can't compare or decide wich one is the best or not..we believe that playing live is the ultimate way to express our music..that's the purpose afterall!

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

We got some gigs scheduled but no touring so far..

7. Currently you are signed  to Hellthrasher productions, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support that they have given you so far?

Hellthrasher and Bartek Kosinski are true companions of the band. All started from myspace,as weird as it sounds.Bartek offered as immediately a contract and we accepted it.First we had a split release with Swedish Desolator, presenting our first demo entitled "Dark Revival" and now comes our debut full length album "False Enligthenment".The labels support is unbelievable and we are really satisfied with it.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal?

The feedback so far is very good! with every of our releases ,people get to know us better and support us and we are really pleased of all this!

8. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

There is no plan directions..We will keep writing music ,forfilling our musical taste and aspect until this gets drained or faded..for sure it will continue to be dark and violent..

9.Are there any other current side projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?

Yes..Actualy some of us  are also playing in a band called Necrovorous, but Resurgency is the main band.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Major influences is bands of death metal like it was formed back in the 90's in Europe as long as America like Brutality,Gorguts,Incantation,Carnage,Napalm Death ,Autopsy,Morgoth and many more..We keep our selfs updated in the music scene but we can't escape the maze of old school death metal swallowing our fucking brains haha!

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

We all have bits and bites ,and working alot, but our main interest is music..

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thanks for the interview and support! "False Enligthenment"  will be out on 15th of June so give it a listen! Hails!

Fallen Angels/Engines Of Oppression/Metal On Metal Records/2010 CD Review

Fallen  Angels  are  a  band  from  Seattle,  Washington  that  has  had  their  previous album  reviewed  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  that  mixes  death  and  thrash  metal  together  and  this  is  a  review  of  their 2010  album  "Engines  Of  Oppression"  which  was  released  by  Metal  On  Metal  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  is  not  as  powerful  as  the  last  recording  but  you  can  still  hear  it  times  and  it  seems  to  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  while  still  sounding  very  powerful  at  times  with  some  heavy  bass  leads.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  influences  from  both  death  and  thrash  metal  together  along  with  some  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars are  very  melodic  and  technical  sounding  guitar  solos  and  leads  adding  in  more  traditional  and  classic  metal  influences  that where  not  so  much  on  the  last  recording,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  which  are  only  used  a  great  amount  on  this  album  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  more  variety  to  this  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  traditional  sounding  thrash  growls,  shouts  and  screams  with  some  gang  back  up  vocals  while  still  retaining  some  of  the  death  metal  influenced  growls  of  the  last  album,  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy and  professional  sound  where  you  can hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  recording  from  Fallen  Angels  that  shows  alot  more  progression  as  well  as  a  more straight  forward  thrash  sound  then  the  last  recording  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  one  as  well.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Engines  Of  Oppression"  "Rebirth"  "Legacy  Of  Pain"  and  "Laid  To  Rest".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
