Pest Records Online Compilation Vol 14/2013 Review

  This  is  a  review  of  the  14th  compilation  from  Pest  Records  which  was  released  in  2013  and  we will  review  the  songs  one by one.

  Starting  off  the  compilation  is  Algide  with  "La  Marche  Funnebre"  a  very  mid  paced,  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  song  that  uses  some  dark  sounding  melodies  in  the  riffing.

  Next  up  is  Antiquus  Infestus  with  "Moorfeelds"   a  very  heavy  old  school  sounding  death  metal  song  with  some  black  metal  influences  and  avant  garde  elements.

  Next  up  is  Beast  with  "Black  Death"  a  very  80's  sounding  death/thrash  metal  song  with  some dark  and  heavy  riffing.

  Next  up  is  Conquerror  with  "Snakes  Of  Light"  a  very  old  school  sounding  black/thrash  metal  song  with  some  death  metal  elements.

  Next  up  is  Exodia  with  "Fight  My  Cock  With  Your  Palate"  a  very  heavy  and  old  school  sounding  thrash/crossover  song.

  Next  up  is  Frostagrath  with  "Into  A  Dimensional  Void"  a  very  long  and  epic  in  length  atmospheric  depressive  black  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Lebenswinter  with  "Weltenbrand"  a  long  and  epic  in  length  atmospheric  black/doom  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  L'endevi  with  "Red  Ivy"  a  more  atmospheric  sounding  gothic  metal  song  with  some  death  and  black  metal  elements.

  Next  up  is  Markradonn  with  "Internal  Hate  Unbounded"  a  very  long  and  epic  in  length  song  with alot  of  symphonic  elements  as  well  as  some  heavy  and  dark  gothic/doom  metal  riffing  as  well  as  some  deep  death  metal  growls.

  Next  up  is  Nostalgia  with  "Estas  Muerta"  a  very  long  and  epic  in  length  atmospheric,  melodic    black/death  metal  song  with  some  depressing  riffing.

  Next  up  is  Plutonium  with  "Zero  Swarm"  a  very  melodic  and  atmospheric  black  metal  song  with  some  grim  sounding  screams.

  Next  up  is  Prayer  For  The  Dying  with  "God's  Failed  Creation"  a  very  dark,  melodic  and  heavy  sounding  blackened  death  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Ravenfrost  with  "To  Envy  The  Nameless  Dead"  a  very  dark,  melodic  and  depressive sounding  black  metal  song.

  Next  up  is  Sarkrista  with  "Wrath  Incarnation"  a  very  dark,  melodic,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  old  school  black  metal  song.

  Closing  the  compilation  is  Winterblood  with  "Raserei  Des  Meeres"  a  very  long  and  epic  in  length  melodic,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  depressive  black  metal  song  that  mixes  high  pitched  black  metal s creams  with  clean  singing.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  compilation  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black,  doom,  gothic,  death  and  thrash  metal.  RECOMMENDED.

Ungrace/Feed The Demons/Metal Scrap Records/2013 CD Review

  Ungrace  are  a  band  from  Ukraine  that  plays  a  mixture  of  industrial,  death  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Feed  The  Demons"  which  was  released  by  Metal  Scrap  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  brutal  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  synths  and  sound  effects  they  bring  the  industrial  elements  to  the  music.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  brutal  death  metal  with  industrial  and  groove  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  some  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  are  very  old  school  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  which  are  only  used  briefly  use  finger  picking  to  add  some  darker  elements  to  the  music.

  Vocals  range  from  deep  death  metal  growls,  high  pitched  screams, groove  metal  style  vocals  and  some  clean  singing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples,  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  hateful,  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound.    

  In  my  opinion  Ungrace  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  death,  groove,  and  industrial  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "All  My  Demons"  "Scarifice"  "Bleeding  Thoughts"   and  "SLF".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Mantra/Toward The Light/2012 EP Review

  Mantra  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  hardcore,  progressive,  psychedelic  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2012  ep  "Toward  The  Light".

  Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced   to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very   strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow, mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  hardcore,  progressive,  psychedelic,  and  death  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times  as  well  as  some  soft  and  clean  playing  being  used  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  progressive  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  further  advance  the  progressive  and  psychedelic  sounds  of  the  recording.

  Vocals  range  from  clean  singing,  extreme  metal/hardcore  shouts  and  yells  and  deep  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  dark  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  ep  with  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

  In  my  opinion  Mantra  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  hardcore,  progressive,  psychedelic  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Toward  The  Light"  and  "One".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.    

Eternal Rest/Prophetic/Deepsend/2013 CD Review

  Eternal  Rest  are  a  band  from  Australia  that  plays  a  very  heavy,  technical,  and  brutal  form  of  death  metal  with  Egyptian  influences  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Prophetic"  which  was  released  by  Deepsend.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy,  brutal  and  technical  sounding  with  some  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads  that  have  a  Middle  Eastern  feeling  to  them,  as  for t he  acoustic  guitars  when t hey  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  to  add  an  exotic  and  ethnic  feeling  to  the  recording.

  Vocals  range  from  deep  death  metal  growls  to  high  pitched  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Egyptian  Mythology  and  Ancient  Civilizations,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion Eternal  Rest  are  a  very  great  sounding  ethnic,  heavy,  technical  and  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Preaching  The  Decimation  Of  Spher"  "Infernal  Reign"  "Onset  Of  Destruction"  and  "Last  Gate".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.  

Collapse/Arms And The Covenant/Transcend Music/2013 CD Review

  Collapse  are  a  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  modern  thrash,  groove  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Arms  And  The  Covenant"  which  was  released  by  Transcend  Music.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

 Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  death  metal  with  groove,  hardcore  and  thrash  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of t heir  own  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  range  from  deep  death/groove  metal  growls,  high  pitched  screams  and  some  spoken  word  elements,  while  the  lyrics  cover  hateful  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  Collapse  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  thrash,  groove  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Cursed"  "Bloodlet"  "Of  Iron"  and  "Heartwork"  which  is  a  Carcass  cover.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.  

BornBroken/The Healing Powers Of Hate/2013 CD Review

  BornBroken  are  a  band  from  Montreal,  Quebec,  Canada  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death,  thrash  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2012  album  "The  Healing  Powers  Of  Hate".

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  death,  groove,  hardcore  and  thrash  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  some  technical  and  melodic  elements  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  are  very  old  school  and  melodic  sounding  extreme  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  to  add  more  variety  to  the  recording.

  Vocals  are  mostly  growls  that  utilize  elements  of  death  metal,  hardcore,  groove  and  thrash  metal  along  with  some  samples  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent,  hateful  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.  

  In  my  opinion  BornBroken  are  a  very  geat  sounding  hybrid  of  death  metal,  hardcore,  thrash  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Old  News"  "Control"  "Bleed  The  Sky"  and  "The  Healing  Powers  Of  Hate".  RECOMMENDED  BUY. 

Noisem/Agony Defined/A389 Recordings/2013 CD Review

  Noisem  are  a  band  Maryland  that  plays  a  very  heavy  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Agony  Defined"  which  was  released  by  A389  Recordings.

  Drums  range from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  playing  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  and  heavy  riffs  that  combine  death  and  thrash metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  old  school  sounding death/thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.
