Herrschaft/Les 12 Vertiges/Code666 Records

Herrschaft  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  electro,  industrial and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Les  12  vertiges"  which  was  released  by  Code666  Records.

The  album  starts  out  with  atmospheric  sounds  before  going  into  a  more  electro/industrial  direction  along  with  heavy  guitars  and  drums  which  leads  to  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  as  well  as  bringing  in  female  vocals  and  alternating  between  industrial  and  metal  sounds  along  with  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts.

As  the  album  continues it  sticks  to  a  very  extreme  style  of  industrial  and  extreme  metal  while  style  being  electro  enough  to  appeal  to  the  rivethead  crowd  and  elements  of  gothic  music  are  also  brought  into  the  recording  and  after  awhile  the  synths  bring  in  traces  of  symphonic  music  to  the  recording  as  well  as  some  clean  singing  industrial  rock  style  vocals.

When  we  got  more  into  the  album  acoustic  guitars  are  brought  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  also  remaining  heavy  all  at  the  same  time  while  also  getting  more  dark  as  time  goes  on  by  as  well  as  the  bass  guitars  getting  more  powerful  sounding  and  on  the  last  song  they  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  guitar  leads.

Herrschaft  bring  a  lot  of  diversity  and  originality  to  their  music  while  there  music  is  mostly  in  the  electro  industrial  section  they  also  bring  in  the  heaviness  and  death  and  extreme  metal  to  create  a  sound  only  they  can  call  their  own.

Song  lyrics  cover  post  apocylpse  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present   on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Herrschaft  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  electro,  industrial  and  extreme  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Gates  To  Dreams"  "Seducing  Dementia"  "Allmighty"  and  "Mephedron  Trip".  8  out  of  10.

Alterbeast/Immortal/Unique Leader/2014 CD Review

Alterbeast  are  a  band  from  Sacramento,  California  that  plays  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  form  of  technical  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Immortal"  which  was  released  by  Unique  Leader.

The  album  starts  out  with  a  dark  classical  music  style  sound  before  going  into  a  fast  and  brutal sound  along  with  blast  beats  and  a  mixture  of  growls  and  screams  which  leads  up  to  technical  guitar  solos  a s well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  a  mixture  of  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  which  also  beings  in  a  bit  of  melody.

The  brutal  and  technical  continues  on  the  other  songs  and  the  music  remains  very  heavy  throughout  the  recording  while  also  having  a  more  modern  extreme  metal  feeling  that  is  actually  done  properly  this  time  around  and  never  takes  away  from  the  brutality  this  recording  produces  and  the  melody  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  emotion  to  the  music  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  early  90s  influences  and  on  one  of  the  songs  they  bring  in  some  ritualistic  chanting.

Alterbeast  seem  to  have  a  good  balance  on  this  record,  all  of  the  musicians  seem  to  be  very  skilled  at  their  instruments  and  they  mix  in  very  brutal  death  metal  along  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  and  technical  elements  to  create  a  very  interesting  sounding  record.

Song  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  gore  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  brutal  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Alterbeast  are  a  very  great  sounding  heavy,  fast,  and  brutal  technical  death  metal b and  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album>  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Flesh  Bound  Text"  "Ancient's  Retribution"  and  "Serpentspire".  8  out  of  10.

Eteritus/Tales of Death/ Wydawnictwo Muzyczne Psycho/2014 EP Review

Eteritus  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  very  old  school  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  ep  "Tales  of  Death"  which  was  released  by  Wydawnictwo  Muzyczne  Psycho.

The  ep  starts  out  with  a  very  heavy  old  school  death  metal  sound  along  with  growls  and  after  a  minute  the  music  speeds  up  and  brings  in  blast  beats  along  with  a  good  amount  of  early  90's  Swedish  death  metal  influences  and  they  do  not  use  solos  or  leads.

As  the  ep  continues  the  band  stick  to  an  early  90's  Swedish  death  metal sound  while  also adding  in  the  heaviness  of  early  Bolt  Thrower  and  while  they  have  some  melody  in  their  music  they  do not   over  use  it  like  some  of  these  old  school  Swedish  revival  death  metal  bands  seem  to  do  and  they  have  a  more  aggressive  approach  with  their  take  on  this  genre.

Eteritus  do  a  great  job  with  their  approach  to  old  school  death  metal  and  they  bring  an  aggressive  sound  to  their  music  as  well  as  not  being  a  copy  of  the  death  metal  bands  from  their  country  and  this  is  the  way  death  metal  should  sound.

Song  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  along  with  the  bass  guitars  being  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix.

In  my  opinion  Eteritus  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal b and  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Beginning...The  End"  and  "Elder  Race".  8/5  out  of  10.

Anarchos Interview

1.Can you give us an introduction to the band for those that will be hearing of you for the first time?
We started in the end of 2010, after Vincent (drummer) asked Ardy and me to create some metal of death. A vocalist joined some months later and Thorsten joined a year later. In that time we created and composed the first songs, we recorded those in March 2012 in a rehearsal session. This was the “Tortured Beyond Death” rehearsal demo. After that with did our first 3 gigs. In spring of 2013 the vocalist left and was replaced by Frank, who did his first gig after 2 rehearsals. 2 Months later we recorded “Descent Into The Maelström” and did a couple of gigs after that.

2.How would you describe the musical sound of both the ep and full length that you are releasing this year and also how does your current musical sound differ from your previous bands? It’s death metal obscurity with some touches of doom inspired by Asphyx, Autopsy, Dismember and overall the old school death metal scene. ANARCHOS is darker and the arrangements of the riffs are different then I use in my other band.

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical content of the music?
They deal about death, destruction, occult theories, sorrow ,sadness, despair ....everything that can turn a nice life into a nightmare! Our lyrics are certainly important , they should reflect the feeling and tension of the gruesome sounds.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Anarchos'?
Literally it means without authority/rulers, for us it means that we walk our own path musically and in life.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We only did 6 shows till now and I think the last 2 shows were the best, musically wise. We try to create an deathlike depressed atmosphere for the slower parts and a headbanging hell in the fast ones.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for 2014?
Currently we have 2 shows planned, one in Hengelo and the other one in Hoogeveen, both in Holland. The Hoogeveen show will be support for Sledgehammer Nosejob, the new band from Massive Assault members Fredde and Carl. That would be one hell of a party. We don’t have any touring plans at the moment.

7.The band members have a history playing death metal, what is it that keeps you motivated to play this style of music after all of these years?
Passion, willpower, dedication and the urge to create death metal darkness.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal? The people who heard heard “Descent…” or have listened/watched “Anointing Of The Sick” or have come to a show are positive. But we will see when the record is out what it will bring. For us it doesn’t matter much, we will keep composing what our Death Metal infected brains demand

9.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases? It is and will be DEATH METAL, pure and uncompromised, always. The music will mature more and the compositions will getting better because we play more and get better skills.

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Autopsy, Asphyx and Dismember. Old school death metal, old thrash, pure black metal and I personally am a fan of the Swedish Death Metal scene, mostly the “Stockholm” styled bands. Nowadays I listen a lot to the “newer” bands playing death metal, like Maim, Miasmal, Morbus Chron, Chapel Of Disease, Destroyer 666, Deserted Fear, Entrapment, Pyre, Grave Miasma, Bombs Of Hades, Mordbrand, Nominon, Demonical, Vanhelgd and many more.

11.Outside of music what are some of your interests?Collecting vinyl, guitars, drinking good beers, good party’s and brewing beer.

12.Do you have any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for the interest and support for Anarchos. Check out “Descent Into The Maelström”.
Mors certa!

Insain/Enlightening The Unknown/Kaotxin Records/2014 EP Review

Insain  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  ep  "Enlightening  The  Unknown"  which  was  released  by  Kaotoxin  Records.

The  ep  starts  out  with  an  intro  which  uses  dark  sounding  synths  and  spoken  word  ritualistic  parts  before  going  into  a  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  along  with  blast  beats,  growls  and  screams  and  after  awhile  the music  starts  mixing  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  together  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  which  also  leads  up  to  guitar  solos.

As  the  ep  moves  on  the  band  stick  to  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  while  also  having  a  good  amount  of  darkness  in  their  music  and  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  the  same  formula  while  still  being  done  in  the  right  manner.

Insain  stick  to  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  death  metal  direction  throughout  the  recording  and  barely  ever  use  melody   and  the y concentrate  more  on  creating  some  of  the  best  brutal  death  metal  than  what  you  can  expect  from  an  average  band.

Song  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  brutal  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Insain  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Absorbing  the  Masse"  and  "Enlightening  The  Unknown".  8  out  of  10.

Infectious Hate/Insanity Begins/2013 EP Review

Infectious  Hate  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  ep  "Insanity  Begins".

The  ep  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  sound  along  with  some  growls  and  groove  metal  elements  in  the  mid  paced  sections  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  before  the  groove  parts  take  over.

When  the  ep  goes  to  other  songs  the  band  sticks  to  mostly  a  mid  paced  death/groove  metal  direction  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  speeding  up  to  a  brutal  sound  in  certain  sections  of  the  music  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  a  mixture  of  screams  and  growls  which  also  leads  to  to  some  guitar  solos  and  on  one  of  the songs  there  are  spoken  word  samples.

With  this  ep  Infectious  Hate  take  a  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  mix  it  in  with  groove  metal  and  melody  to  create  a  very  heavy  recording  that  does  not  rely  on  excessive  speed  or  plenty  of  blast  beats  while  still  proving  that  you  can  still  be  brutal  with  mostly  mid  paced  sections.

Song  lyrics  cover  dark  and  hateful  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  ep.

In  my  opinion  Infectious  Hate  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Insanity  Begins"  and  "Corroded  By  Time".  8  out  of  10.

Mass Infection/For I Am Genocide/Comatose Music/2014 CD Review

Mass  Infection  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "For  I  Am  Genocide"  which  will  be released  by  Comatose  Music.

The  album  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  along  with  blast  beats  which  also  leads  up  to  along  with  a  mixture  of  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  after  awhile  they  bringing  a  good  amount  of  old  school  death  metal  influences  and  mix  it  in  with  the  more  modern  variation  of  the  genre.

As  the  album  continues  it  sticks  to  a  brutal  death  metal  sound  while  also  adding  technical  parts,  melody  and  solos  which  are  only  used  briefly  on  a  couple  of  songs  into  their  music  to  give  the  album  a  bit  more  variation  and  they  also  bring  in  a  brief  instrumental  before  the  last  song.

With  this  album  Mass  infection  combine  the  modern  brutal  sound  with  the  old  school  death  metal  sound  to  create  an  album  that  is  very  heavy,  fast  and  technical  and  they  rely  more  on  rhythms  than  flashy  guitar  solos  or  a  million  notes  to  get  their  point  across  the  recording.

Song  lyrics  cover  dark,  occult,  violent  and  hateful  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  along  with  the   bass  guitars  being  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix  as  well  as  the  last  song  being  long  and  epic  length.

In  my  opinion  Mass  Infection  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  old  school  and  brutal  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Praised  by  All  The  Entities"  "Beholding  the  Throne"  "Unearthly  Legion"  and  "The  Genocide  Revealed".  8  out  of  10.
