Minus One World Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band? -Well, we are just bunch of guys from small town of Salo, Finland who shared interest in thrash/death metal and thought it would be cool to form a band. Six years has passed and still going!

2.A few months back you had released a new ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction of the new recording and also how does it differ from your previous demo's? -Recording process for our upcoming EP "Super Electric Cancer Machine" is almost done and in my opinion there is slightly more groove on the riffing. Otherwise we stayed true to our earlier songs.

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music? -There is basically two categories where you can put my lyrics: Topics that inspire me and topics that pisses me off. For example the song "Empire Strikes Back" and song from upcoming EP "Heisenberg Rises" are just results of watching a lot of Star Wars and Breaking Bad. Then there are songs like "Kallo Halki Maahan" and upcoming song "Super Electric Cancer Machine". "Kallo Halki Maahan" (Roughly translated "Skull Smashed To The Ground") is about drunken assholes who wander around town at the weekends and try to pick a fights with random guys for no other reason than to boost their large ego. "Super Electric Cancer Machine" is about peoples obsession for brand new smartphones and other useless toys that do nothing but decreases their quality of life.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Minus One World'? -Well, one very hungover morning we decided to play some Super Mario Bros on NES. Ville showed us a bug on the game that leads you to level called "world -1". It's basically a water-level that starts over when you reach the finishing point. The existence of such a horrible level was so brutal that we decided to take it as a bands name.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance? -In my opinion the best show we had this far was at the local bar where we warmed-up for a finnish band called "Mokoma" which is a pretty big deal in finland. At our gigs we try to just have fun and try not to take thing too seriously. I personally hate when bands just stand on the stage and try to play their songs with minimal mistakes and with the same tempo they played them on their albums. Thats why we jump around at the stage and the crowd, play fast, improvise a little etc. Just trying to have a good time and wish that the audience haves too.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future? -Not really, it would be cool thought to have a tour with some other band.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest? -We probably send few of our EP:s to some record companies but we don't really search one activally. In modern times with internet you don't necessarily need a record label behind you unless you try to make bunch of money with your music which is not our main goal. Altought it would be nice.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death and thrash metal? -We have found out that mostly germans and south-americans enjoy our music from foreign countries. Don't know why, maybe they have taste for good music.

9.When can we expect a full length album where do you see the band heading into musically during the future? -We are still a small band so EP per year is a pretty good ratio for now. Can't really tell about the future, hopefully we still make death/thrash metal instead of growing up and starting to make lame radio friendly rock music.

10.What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays? -Ville makes mostly our songs so I can't really give you 100% accurate answer but mostly we are influenced by old school thrash, death and speed metal. Bands like Sodom, Whiplash, Anthrax etc... Maybe little heavy metal too like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Mostly we listen to metal and punk music but we tend to listen to all kinds of music that are just good. For example I just happen to listen Oingo Boingo while I answer these questions.

11.What are some of your interests outside of music? -Alcohol and all kinds of nerdy stuff like video games, movies etc.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts? -Keep supporting real metal and remember to drink beer!

Minus One World/Sewage/2014 EP Review

Minus  One  World  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  ep  "Sewage".

The  ep  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  old  school  death/thrash  metal  sound  along  with  growls  and  blast  beats  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  awhile  melody  and  high  pitched  screams  are  added  into  the  recording  before  adding  in  solos  and  leads.

As  the  ep  continues  the  band  sticks  to  its  old  school  mixture  of  thrash  and  death  metal  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  a  mixture  of  slow  and  fast  parts.

Minus  One  World  play  some  very  well  executed  death/thrash  metal  with  this  recording  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  modern  and  old  school  influences  along  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  to  create  a  very  interesting  sounding  ep.

Song  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  Finnish  and  English  and  cover  violent  and  everyday  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  ep.

In  my  opinion  Minus  One  World  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Target"  adn  "Sewage".  8  out  of  10.

Apocrophex/Wheels Within Wheels/Manicidic Records/2014 EP Review

Apocrophex  are  a  band  from  New  Jersey  that  plays  a  very  heavy  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  ep  "Wheels  Within  Wheels"  which  was  released  by  Manicidic  Records.

The  ep  starts  out  with  a  very  fast,  heavy  and  brutal  sound  along  with  growls,  blast  beats  and  technical  guitar  leads  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  slow  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  screams  and  on  the following  track  they  add  some  melody  to  their  brutal  and  technical  sound  as  well  as  bringing  in  mid  paced  sections  along  with  a  small  amount  of  rough  vocals  that  almost  have  a  melodic  tone  to  them.

With  this  ep  Apocrophex  stick  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  sound  while  having  a  great  amount  of  technical  sounding  guitar  leads  and  they  have  a  great  balance  with  the  way  they  mix  brutality  and  heaviness  with  talent  and  skill.

Song  lyrics  cover  philosophical  and  metaphysical  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Apocrophex  are  a  very  great  sounding  heavy,  brutal  and  technical  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Halos  Of  Light".  8  out  of  10.

Infectious Hate Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band ?

John: Infectious Hate is a French death metal band and we're from Paris.

2 A few months ago you released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction you have taken with this recording ?

Dan: We wanted to do a very groovy death metal mixed with modern sounds, many of our influences come from the 90's.

3.The band has been around since 2009 and the first release came out in 2013, can you tell us a little bit more about the gap ?

Dan: This is explained by the fact that we took our time to build the best lineup possible and it took us some years to find our sound.

4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music ?

John: Essentially the darkest human emotions, rage, hatred, confrontation facing death, and of course zombies, and things that make us human beings despite all the aspects, even the most distressing ...

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Infectious hate' ?

Dan: Horror movies with zombies are not only realized for showing us gory images, there is often a real critique of society, despite the grotesque aspect :)

6. Can you tell us a little bit more about the masks and costumes the band wheres ?

Dan: We are wearing masks for the symbolic aspect of the object. In everyday life, we are all wearing a kind of mask. It reminds us how important it is to be as honest as possible with either same. Everything becomes more spontaneous, more radical, this is where we get our energy, our authenticity.

7. What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance
John: DEBAUCHERY (Germany) + FRACTAL GATES + INFECTIOUS HATE + TANKRUST

Dan: Yeah, I agree that it's still a good souvenir, a good performance and an incredible audience that night. I just had the regret that we had to find a replacement for Leo because he could not be with us this evening.

8. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future ?

John: we do many concerts in our area, we will play in small festivals, etc...

We advance slowly but surely.

9. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest ?

Dan: We're still an unsigned band and it is perhaps too early for that. We have to prove our talent in the full length CD.

10. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death and groove metal ?

Dan: For the moment, we got 40 reviews, 39 are positive and only one is negative. People join our concept, they enjoy the production of our first try. The only guy who has not liked was maybe too destabilized by our mix of influences, he got a clear preference for the old school.

11. When can we expect a full length, and also where do you see the band heading into music wise during the future ?

John: We're right now in the writing of quite many songs in the purpose to record a full-length album maybe for the end of the year 2014 or beginning 2015.

12. What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays ?

Dan: Now, the groups only recording 11 tracks by CD, and most of the time the music is boring. It's too formated.

Other groups make the difference thanks to the budget of their production.

Really, I remain nostalgic of the 90's.

John: Yeah, it kills the spontaneity and especially the generosity of the music.

Otherwise my last favorite band is Cattle Decapitation !

13. What are some of your interests outside of music ?

Dan: video games, movies, going out with my friends

John: same for me ! I am also passionate about motorcycles.

14. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts ?

Dan: Join the Horde !

Dagoba interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

We're both on the road promoting our latest record "Post Mortem Nihil Est" and composing the next one.
Very exciting time !

2.Your last album came out a year ago, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction of that recording and also how does it differ from your previous releases?

This record is the more constrated of our discography, very dark, heavy, and at the same time it contains the most lightened part we ever wrote. I'm very proud of it, as I'm pretty
open minded concerning metal, and putting all these different parts in the same music seems very extreme too me. and I love being extreme.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your music?

this one is talking about death, atheism, nostalgy. and wandering if "Post Mortem Nihil Est" ("There's nothing after death")

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Dagoba'?

Master Yoda of course !! The Force ! and we wanted to end our band name by an "A" wish is very 90's, our roots.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

playing with Metallica was a big deal ! because I'm a very big fan of the band, and because we had the chance to talk with James and the other guys. Good memories for sure. but we just headlined
a very cool venue in Paris ("Le Bataclan") where very big name are supposed to play (a couple of years ago we opened the show for Stone Sour there) and this was very emotional.
while on stage, we give everything we got, we just love rocking, and our crowd is totally crazy ! we feel privilegies to live this life...

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

of course, we're planing summer festival in Europe, and with chance we'll be back in the US asap.

7.The last album came out on Verycords, can you tell us a little bit more about that label?

the metal responsable of our previous label (XIII Bis), moved there, and really wanted us to join the new team, so...
it's important to feel desired by a label, and to work with guys that feel part of the band.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

very good ! in november we were in the USA with Dir en Grey, and the crowd went mad there !! it's been many years now that we're on the road through Europe and further,
so people start to know about us.

10.When can we expect a new album and also what musical direction do you see the music heading into during the future?

We composed 90% of the next album, and for sure it's gonna be the most brutal shit we ever played ! can't wait to record it !

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

80's, 90's metal band like Pantera, Metallica...but also the scandinavian black metal scene, and great classical music.

12.What are some of your interests outside of music?

spearfishing and fitness.

13.Before we wrap up this interview do you have any final words or thoughts?

thank you guys for your support !

Psygnosis/Human Be[Ing]/2014 CD Review

Psygnosis  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  an  atmospheric,  progressive  and  industrial  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  album  "Human  Be[Ing]".

The  album  starts  out  with  clean  guitars  along  with  some  spoken  word  samples  which  also  leads  to  heavy  parts  starting  to  kick  in  along  with  some  growls  and  screams  are  influenced  by  both  death  and  industrial  metal  and  the  music  also  starts  heading  into  a  heavy  progressive  death  metal  direction  as  well  as  speeding  up  and  adding  in  blast  beats  and  you  can  also  hear  some  melody  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  music  along  with  a  mixture  of  clean  and  heavy  parts  which  also  lead  up  to  melodic  guitar  leads  becoming  a  part  of  the  music.

When  the  album  goes  into  other  songs  the  music  starts  going  for  more  of  an  atmospheric,  progressive  death  metal  direction  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  some  clean  singing  vocals and  after  awhile  the  industrial  sounds  and  spoken  word  parts  make  a  return  to  the  music.

As  the  album  progresses  violins  and  acoustic  guitars  are  added  into  the  recording  and  the  music  starts  having  a  classical  feeling  to  it  before  returning  to  a  heavier  direction  on  the  following  track.

Psygnosis  bring  in  a  very  heavy  and  original  sound  to  their  music  while  the  music  is  more  closer  to  the  progressive  and  death  metal  genres  they  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  atmospheric  and  industrial  music  to  create  a  sound  only  they  can  call  their  own.

Song  lyrics  cover  political  and  philosophical  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  dark,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  album.

In  my  opinion  Psygnosis  are  a  very  decent  sounding  mixture  of  atmospheric,  industrial,  progressive  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Phase  6"  "Resurrection"  and  "Hurricane".  8  out  of  10.

Exhumation Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Before we move further, I'd like to say thank you so much for having us. Well, now we've been digging so hard on our second opus. We've spread our wings even more, we've let some certain things embrace us in that way. In case, we would love to this second opus would tear down our walls and ourselves.

2.For those that have yet to hear you music, how would you describe your musical sound?
A very horrible, haunting, yet massive evil sound from its big picture!

3.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Something, someplace, where most people can not ever touch it, so-called death and dark music.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Exhumation'?
The art of digging some certain things out of the ground, literally. Yes we dig a very very horrible art to our actual being. This name also portraying a home for us, a place where we can even more raise the value higher and deeper in that sense, a solid ground where we can dig out the words, the notes, the rhymes and its aura to make it into pieces music as well.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Our very first tour "FOUR HABITATS TOUR" with great bands such HEADKRUSHER, GODDESS OF FATE, NOCTURNAL KUDETA.
Then again, our stage performance is terribly haunting and horrible, very not recommended for some people who are really seeking for fun thing in music show for real.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Sure thing! We plan to do some tour in malaysia and singapore, Jakarta, Bandung this year I'd say. Well, time flies, and time shall speak.

7.Recently Dunkelheit Produktionen re-issued your 2012, album, what are your thoughts on the final product?
In moments of joy, we're excited in that sense now. We're genuinely feel happy when a label which I admire most could spread our stuffs over the world.

8.On the re-issue you did a Blasphemy cover, what was the decision behind doing on of their songs?
Because we truly want to do some magnificent thing to the band which gave their dedication and their devotion to the underground world in all aspects. We want to go the basic, essence of our being in music as well. We want to keep every element of "their ways" keep close and close for ourselves. And plus, No introduction needed - when we talk about Blasphemy, they're a very inspiring and haunting band as well.

9.A few years back you did a split album with Goddess Of Fate and Nocturnal Kudeta, what are your thoughts on the other bands that participated on the split?
They're fantastic bands. They're talented, and mostly they're a very extremely good people to share with.

10.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal?
It's ultimately beyond our expectation, and also the feedback sort of give us some extra miles further to go on.

11.What is going on with the other musical projects these days that some of the other band members are involved with?
I think they've discovered some deliberately satisfying thing so far.
Bones, the vocalist involved in a band BLEACHED BONES:
J, our live session player involved in a band HEADKRUSHER:

12.When can we expect a new album and also what musical direction do you see the band heading into during the future?
Our core of it still remains, our new album will genuinely more haunting and massive, and it will be a bit different with Hymn To Your God. Well, our musical direction will step forward into the abyss of the unknown - adoration put - and forever be buried under the shore of the underground will. The further we dig, the more unknown we got.

13.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
A very diverse stuffs I'd say, One thing I've never totally be satisfied for listen to the album of
Altar of Madness. Then again recently I've listening to these; blast from the past Only Theatre of Pain from Christian Death and some new records from In Solitude, Beastmilk, and tons of great music out there. Also recently I've blown away with the concept, ideas, musics of this band NECRODEITY, they're based from Kolkata India.

14.Do you have any non musical interests?
I love writing, sometimes dancing, sometimes walking somewhere, from a strange and different perspective.

15.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We can't thank you enough for your enduring support in our music, thank you for listening, thank you for being there. Prepare yourself for our worldwide distribution HYMN TO YOUR GOD VIA DUNKELHEIT PRODUKTIONEN. We'll see you on the road.
HYMN OF DEATH!!!

Thank you so much,
