Sinister/Dark Memorials/Massacre Records/2015 CD Review

  Sinister  have  returned  with  a  new  album  that  remains  true to  their  old school,  brutal  sound  while  also  bringing  in  cover  tunes  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Dark  Memorials"  which  was  released  by  Massacre  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  heavy  and  melodic  guitar  riffs  as  well  as  some  ritualistic  spoken  word  parts  before  going  into  a  cover  of  Sepultura's  "Beneath  The  Remains"  that  sounds  identical  to  the  original  version  while  having  more  of  a  pure  death  metal  vocal  approach  to  the  song.

  They  also  bring  in  cover's  of  Carcass's  "Exhume  To  Consume'  and  Bolt  Thrower's  "Unleashed  Upon  Mankind"  which  remain  true  to  the  original  versions  while  having  more  of  a  modern  production,  while  their  cover  of  Merauder's  "Master  Killer"  goes  away  from  the  hardcore  style  of  the  original  version  and  has  more  of  an  old  school  death  metal  sound  to  it.

  They  also  bring  in  cover's  of  Death's  "Behind  The  Unholy  Grave"  Kreator's  "Under  The  Guillotine"  Autopsy's  "Ridden  With  Disease"  Slayer's  "Necrophiliac"  Repulsion's  "Radiation  Sickness"  and  Carnage's  "Blasphemies  Of  the  Flesh"  which  all  remain  faithful  to  the  original  versions  while  also  adding  a  touch  of  their  own  style  to  them  and  they  re-record  a  couple  of  their  own  original's  as  bonus  track's  which  are  very  brutal,  and  blasphemous  in  an  old  school  death  metal  way.

  Sinister  creates  a  recording  that  show's  how  grateful  they  are  to  the  band s that  have  had  a  huge  influence  to  them  while  also  adding  in  more  brutality  to  the  songs,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  gore,  violence,  Satanism  and  Occultism  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sinister  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Beneath  The  Remains"  "Beyond  The  Unholy  Grave"  "Necrophiliac"  and  "Spiritual  Immolation".  8  out  of  10.

Bloodphemy/Blood Will Tell/Sleaszy Rider Records/2016 EP Review

  Bloodphemy  are  a  band  from  the  Netherlands  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  ep  "Blood  Will  Tell"  which  was  released  by  Sleaszy  Rider  Records.

 Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  adding  in  heavy  guitars  along  with  some  death  metal  growls,  solos  and  leads  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  melodies  at  times  and  the  music  also  mixes  the  past  20  years  of  the  genre  along  with  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  being  utilized  in  all  the  songs.

  Blast  beats  can  be  heard  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  riffs  bringing  in  tremolo  picking  and  they  give  the  music  more  of  a  brutal  edge  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  parts  of  the  recording  bring  in  elements  of  industrial  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  ep  which  also  remains  brutal  from  the  start  to  end.

  Bloodphemy  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  Dutch  style  of  death  metal  while  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  modern  day  brutality,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  angry  and  hateful  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Bloodphemy  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Catch  23"  and  "Disgusted".  8  out  of  10.

    

 

Abhorrent Decimation/Miasmic Mutation/2015 CD Review

  Abhorrent  Decimation  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  album  "Miasmic  Mutation".

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  once  death  metal  growls  and  screams  are  added  into  the  music  the  songs  start  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  is  very  much  rooted  in  the  modern  style  of  the  genre.

  When  solos  and  leads  are  added  into  the  music  they  remain  true  to  a  death  metal  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  atmospheric  synths  can  be  heard  briefly  in  the  music  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  being  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  bring  in  technical  elements  at  times  while  the  main  focus  remains  on  a  brutal  style  of  death  metal  while  elements  of  prog  metal  can  also  be  heard  towards  the  end.

  Abhorrent  Decimation  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  brutal  and  modern  while  also  demonstrating  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  as  musicians,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  scientific  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Abhorrent  Decimation  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Glaciate  The  Servants"  "Souls  Of  Sedation"  "Echoes  Of  The  Vortex"  and  "Odious".  8  out  of  10.

           

Rex Shachath/Revocation Of The Blood Elect/Great Dane Records/2015 EP Review

  Rex  Shachath  are  a  band  from  Northern  Ireland  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  ep  "Revocation  Of  The  Blood  Elect"  which  was  released  by  Great  Dane  Records.

  Spoken  word  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  more  of  a  melodic  and  heavier  musical  direction  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  there  is  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  true  to  a  pure  style  of  death  metal  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  bass  guitar  leads  and  the  whole  ep  remains  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Rex  Schachath  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  has  its  roots  in  the  90's  while  also  mixing  in  some of  the  modern  brutality  to  update  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  social  issues.

  In  my  opinion  Rex  Schachath  are  a  very  great  sounding  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Impious  Axiom"  and  "Colossus  Rite".

Insision/Terminal Reckoning/Sevared Records/2016 CD Review

  Insision  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  brutal  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Terminal  Reckoning"  which  was  released  by  Sevared  Records.

  Horror  movie  samples start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavy  and  brutal  sound  where  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  and  once  the  death  metal  growls  kick  in  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Most  of  the  music  goes  for  more  of  a  modern  and  brutal  style  of  death  metal  while  the  solos  and  leads  bring  in  melodies  that  are  influenced  by  the  90's  bands  of  the  genre  and  spoken  word  samples  appear  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  some  of  the  riffs  also  add  some  melody  into  the  brutality  which  is  a  huge  part  of  this  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  some  of t he  songs  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  Insision  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  modern  and  brutal  while  also  demonstrating  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Misanthropy,  Hatred  and  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Insision  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ominous  Spiral"  "Shapeshifting"  and  Resist  (God  Does  Not  Exist)".  8  out  of  10.

 

Neter/Idols/Satanath Records/Metallic Media/Black Plague Records/2015 CD Review

  Neter  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  brutal  form of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Idols"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records,  Metallic  Media  and  Black  Plague  Records.

  Dark  sound  effects  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  militant  beats  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  musical  direction  that  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  demonstrate  a  great  amount  of  melody, talent  and  skill.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  it  brings  in  more  of  brutal  sound  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  death  metal  growls  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  very  modern  take  of  the  genre  while  you  can  hear  influences  of  the  90's  in  some  of  the  riffing  and  the  last  track is  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  towards  the  end.

  Neter creates  a  death  metal  album  that  is  very  heavy  and  brutal  in  the  modern  style  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Eastern,  Polynesian  Mythology,  Philosophy,  Dreams  and  Human  Conduct  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Neter  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tongues  Of   Shiva"  "Fallen  Moia"  "Solaris"  and  "Idols".  8  out  of  10.

   

Burtul/Bottom Astral/Satanath Records/2014 CD Review

  Burtul  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  plays  a  very  brutal  and  satanic  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  014  album  "Bottom  Astral"  which  was  released  by  Satanath  Records.

 Tribal  style  beats  start  off  the  album  and  after  a  few  seconds  morbid  sounding  melodies  are  added  into  the  music  along  with  a  very  fast  and  brutal  death  metal  sound  that  also  uses  vocals  that  can  be  very  guttural  at  times  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are present  on  the  recording.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  very  modern  style  of  brutal  death  metal  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  bring  in  a  chaotic  sound  to  the  music  that  is  also  very  heavily  influenced  by  the  90's  and  the  fast  riffs  also  utilize  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  the  whole  album  also  remains  very  heavy  and  brutal  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording  and  one  of  the  later  tracks  also  brings  in  a  brief  use  of  screams.
