Riftwalker/Green & Black/2016 Full Length Review

  Riftwalker  are  a  band  from  Vancouver  B.C,  Canada  that  plays  a  very  progressive  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2016  album  "Green  &  Black".

  A  very  powerful  bass  guitar  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  after  awhile  the  riffing  starts  adding  in  more  heaviness  and  high  pitched  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  tracks  also  bring  in  clean  playing  along  with  acoustic  guitars  briefly  and  spoken  word  samples  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  back  up  shouts  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  music  starts  getting  more  technical  and  progressive  along  with  a  few  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  guitars  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  all  instrumental  and  melodic  singing  can  also  be  heard  towards  the  end.

  Riftwalker  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  mostly  in  the  technical  and  progressive  style  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  life  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Riftwalker  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  and  technical  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Engineer  their  Consent"  "Primordial  Collapse"  and  "Green  &  Black".  8  out  of  10.

Burial In The Sky/Persistance Of Throught/2016 Full Length Review

  Burial  In  The  Sky  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2016  album  "Persistence  Of  Thought".

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths start  off  the  album  and  a  few  seconds  later  heavy  guitar  riffs  and  technical  guitar  leads  are  added  onto  the  recording  along  with  death  metal  growls  making  their  presence  known  and  they  also  mix  the  heavy  and  atmospheric  parts  together  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  high  pitched  screams  also  being  used  at  times and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  slide  guitars  and  one  track  also  introduces  stringed  instruments  onto  the  album  and  one  of  the  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  at  times  the  music  gets  very  progressive  and  spoken  word  parts  are  also used  briefly  on  a  couple  of  tracks.

  Burial  In  The  Sky  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  technical  and  atmospheric  sounding  while  also  having  its  brutal  and  progressive  moments,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  scientific  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Burial  In  The  Sky  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  technical  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Anchors"  and  "Dimensions  Divide".  8  out  of  10.     

The Replicate/A Selfish Dream/2017 EP Review

  The  Replicate  are  a  band  from  the  United  States  that  plays  a  very  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released 2017  ep  "A  Selfish  Dream".

  Melodic  yet  technical  guitar  riffing  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  screams  a  few  seconds  later  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  the  guitar  leads  also  bring  in  even  more  of  a  technical  style  and  the  vocals  also  have  somewhat  of  a  melodic  tone  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  avant  garde  sounds  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  some  songs  also  mix  in  a  progressive  edge  and  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  present  throughout  the  recording  and  clean  playing  is  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  songs  and  after  awhile  more  growls  are  utilized  and  the  last  track  is  all  instrumental.

Corps-san-Organes/Deluxe Edition/Hateworks/2016 CD Review

  Corps-sans-Organes  are  a  band  from  Columbia  that  plays  a  very  technical  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Deluxe  Edition"  which  was  released  by  Hateworks.

  Acoustic  guitar playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  musical  direction  which  also  introduces  blast  beats  along  with  both  the  riffs  and  leads  being  very  technical  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  At  times  both  the  riffs  and  leads  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  being  very  very  brutal  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  influences  from  the  90's  while  the  music  still  sounds  very  modern  and  the  musicians  also  demonstrate  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill  throughout  the  tracks

  Corps-sans-Organes  plays  a  style  that  technical  death  metal  that is  very  fast,  heavy  and  aggressive  while  also  demonstrating  a  great  amount  of  talent  and  skill,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  and pathologies  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Corps-sans-Organes  are  a  very  great  sounding  technical  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Plane  Of  Consistency"  "Desiring-Machines"  and  "The  Indefinite  Article".  8  out  of  10.  

Eufobia/Self Titled/Wizard/2016 CD Review

  Eufobia  are  a  band  from  Bulgaria  that  plays  death'n'roll  and  this  is  a  review of  their  self  titled  2016  album  which was released  by  Wizard.

  Melodic  guitar  leads  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  that  also  mixes  in  a  touch  of  hardcore  and  after  awhile  spoken  vocals  and  death  metal  growls  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  deep  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sound  powerful.

  Elements  of  thrash  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats can  be  heard  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  or  fast  parts  and  they  also  mix  in  influences  from  the  80's  and  90's  with  a  more  modern  death'n'roll  style and  the  album  also  sticks  to  a  very  hard  and  heavy  musical  style  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Eufobia  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  death  metal  and  death'n'roll  and  mixes  in  a  touch  of  hardcore  to  create  something  very  original,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  suffering,  pain  and  inner  struggles  themes.

  In my  opinion  Eufobia  are  a  very  great  sounding  death'n'roll  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Graveyard" "Devotion"  "Scarecrow" and  "Tears  Of  Defloration".  8  out  of  10.  

      

Entrapment/Through Realms Unseen/Pulverised Records/2016 CD Review

  Entrapment  are  a  band  from  the  Netherlands  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal  with  some  elements  of  death'n'roll  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Through  Realms  Unseen"  which  was  released  by  Pulverised  Records.

  A  very  heavy  sound  along  with  death  metal  growls  start  off  the  album  and  the  solos  and  leads  also  add  in  a  touch  of  classic  rock  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  while  there  is  a  great  amount  of  90's  death  metal  influences  the  death'n'roll  elements  makes  the  music  sound  more  modern.

  Most  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  and  there  are  also  a  decent  amount  of  Swedish  influences  in  the  bands  musical  style  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in more  of  an  old  school  death  metal  feeling  and  as  the  album  progresses  high  pitched  screams  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  album  also  remains  very  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

  Entrapment  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  an  old  school  Swedish  influenced  death  metal  sound  and  updates it  for  the  modern  times  with  elements  of  death'n'roll,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death, corpses  and  morbidity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Entrapment  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  old  school  death  metal  and  death'n'roll  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Omission"  "Ruination"  "Through  Realms  Unseen"  and  "Self  Inflected  Malnutrition".  8  out  of  10.

Grave Plague/The Infected Crypts/Give Praise/Redefining Darkness/2017 EP Review

  Grave  Plague  are  a  band  from  Ohio  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "The  Infected  Crypts"  which  will  be  released  in  March  as  a  joint  effort  between  Give  Praise  and  Redefining  Darkness.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  death  metal  growls  and  when t he  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  music  is  rooted  in  both  the  90's  Swedish  and  American  style  of  the  genre  while  also  mixing  in  a  very  raw  edge.

  Both  of  the  songs  sound  like  they  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  released  more  than  25  years  ago  and  there  is  also  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  very  true  to  an  old  school  style  of  death  metal  and  the  music  always  sticks  to  a  very  dark  and  heavy  sound.

  Grave  Plague  plays  a  style  of  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  and  has  nothing  in  common  with  the  more  modern  era  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion Grave  Plague  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  death  metal  band  an  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Arise  the  Infected".  8  out  of  10.
