Acid Death/Balance Of Power/Floga Records/2017 EP Re-issue Review

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  Greece's  Acid  Death  which  is  also  in  the  a  more  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  the  ep  was  originally  released  in  2008  and  consists  of  material  recorded  in  92  that  was  unreleased  and  called  "Balance  Of  Power"  and  was  re-issued  in  2017  by  Floga  Records.

  Atmospheric  soundscapes  along  with  some  avant  garde  style  keyboards  start  off  the  ep  and  after  the  intro  the  music  gets  a  lot  more  heavier  along  with  some  melodic  guitar  leads  also  being  added  onto  the  recording  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  sound  very  powerful  along  with  some  elements  of  thrash.

  When  the  music  speeds  up a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  after  awhile death  metal  growls  start  to  make  their  presence  known  and  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  80's  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  acoustic  guitars  are  added  onto  the  closing  track  which  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts.

  On  this  recording  Acid  Death  went  for  more  of  a  straightforward  death/thrash  approach  which  was  different  from  their  more  progressive  mixture,  the  production  has  a  demo  feeling  while  the  lyrics  cover  philosophy,  apocalypse,  and  destruction  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  was  a  very  great  sounding  recording  from  Acid  Death  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Apathy  Murders  Hope"  and  "Twilight  Spirits".  8  out  of  10.

Acid Death/Random's Manifest/Copro Records/2016 CD Re-Issue Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording f rom  Acid  Death  that  continues  the  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  album  was  originally  released  in  2000  and  called  'Random's  Manifest"  and  was  re-issued  in  2016  by  Copro  Records.

  Atmospheric  synths  start  off  the  album before  going  into a   very  fast  thrash  influenced  direction  along  with  some  death  metal growls  a  few  seconds  later  and  you  can  also  hear  a  lot  of  Brazilian  influences  in  the  bands  musical style  while  a  lot  of  the  riffing  has  a  style  that  was  very  technical  for  the  90's.

  All  of t he  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  giving  the  songs  a  progressive  metal  touch  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced and  fast  parts  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  prog  style  synths  that  also  gives  the  music a   more  sci  fi  atmosphere,

  Clean  playing  and  avant  garde  jazz  elements  are  added  into  some  parts  of  the  music  and  a  couple  of  the  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  heavier  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  some  of the  guitar  leads  also  add  in  classic  metal  touches  and  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  a  couple  of  the  later  tracks  are  all  instrumental.

  On  this  recording  Acid  Death  remained  true  to  their  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  while also  making  the  music  sound  more  modern  than  the  previous  release  reviewed,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  philosophy,  apocalypse,  and  destruction  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Acid  Death  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  progressive,  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Perfect  Enemy"  "Curse  The  Flesh" "Teach  To  Kill"  and  "W.A.R(Wong  And  Right)'.  8  out  of  10.

Acid Death/Pieces Of Mankind/Copro Records/2016 CD Re-Issue Review

  Acid  Death  are  a  band  from  Greece  that  plays  a  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1997  album  "Pieces  Of  Mankind"  which  was  re-issued  in  2016  by  Copro  Records.

  Horror  movie  style  synths  start  off  the  album  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  that  go  to  the  early  days  of  the  genre  as  well  as  adding  in  a  death/thrash  touch  and  the  music  also  mixes  both  the  80's  and  90's  styles  together.

  At times the  music  gets  very  technical  and  atmospheric  sounds  are  also  added  into  some  of the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  using  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  when  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  You  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  the  tracks  also  mix  in a   great  amount  of  prog  elements  and  as  the  album  progresses  classical  guitars  along  with  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  a  couple  of  songs  also  mixes  in  a  small  amount  of  symphonic  touches  while  a  later  track  introduces  clean  singing  onto  the  recording.

  Acid  Death  played  a  progressive  style  of  death  and  thrash  metal  on  this  recording  that  had  a  very  vintage  old  school  style  while  also  being  very  experimental  for  its  times,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics cover  philosophy,  apocalypse  and  destruction  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Acid  Death  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "While  The  End  Is  Coming"  "Frozen  Heart"  "Liquid  Heaven"  and  "The  Mirror  At  The  Top  Of  the  World".  8  out  of  10. 

 

Fate Unburied/Logos/Sliptrick Records/2017 CD Review

  Fate  Unburied  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  groove  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Logos"  which  was  released  by  Sliptrick  Records.

  A  very  heavy  sound  along  with  blast  beats  and  melodic  guitar  leads  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  groove  metal  style  vocals  a  few  seconds  alter  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  the  riffs  also  use  a  great  amount  of  melody.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  death  metal  growls  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  songs  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  at times  and  the  also  give  the  tracks  a  more  progressive  feeling  and  spoken  word  parts  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  a  small  amount  of  keyboards  and  after  awhile  the  solos  and  leads  also  start  getting  more  technical  and  a  couple  of  tracks  are  all  instrumental  and  the  closing  song  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length. 

  Fate  Unburied  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes progressive,  groove  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  philosophical  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Fate  Unburied  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  mixture  of  death  and  groove  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "It's  Late"  "Life  Abuse"  and  "Unburied".  8  out  of  10.

Sacrificial Slaughter/Generation Of Terror/Horror Pain Gore Death Productions/2017 EP Review

  Sacrificial  Slaughter  are  a  band  from  Los  Angeles,  California  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine a nd  plays  a  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "Generation  Of  Terror"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  horror  Pain  Gore  Death  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  thrash  influenced  sound  starts  off  the  ep  before  speeding  up  and  adding  in a  great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  with  a  few  screams  and  they  also  make  a  90's  style  sound  very  modern  and  all  of t he  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  A  small  amount of  melody  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  for  a  few  seconds  while  a  later  track  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  air  raid  sirens and  the  music  also  remains  very  brutal  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording  and  they  close  the  ep  with  a  cover  of  Carnivore's  "Race  War".

  Sacrificial  Slaughter  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  he  death  and  thrash  metal  mixture  of  previous  releases  while  also  taking  everything  into  a  more  brutal  direction,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while t he  lyrics  cover  gore  and  anti  Christian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sacrificial  Slaughter  and  if  you are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bodies  In  The  Basements"  and  "Race  War".  8  out  of  10.     

Druknroll/Bad Math/Metal Scrap Records/2017 EP Review

  This  is  another  review  of  a  recording  from  Druknroll  with  the  music  being  a  progressive  and  symphonic  mixture  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  the  ep  is  called  'Bad  Math"  and  was  released  by  Metal  Scrap  Records.

  News  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  heavy  symphonic  direction  which  also  uses  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  the  synths  also  mixing  in  progressive  elements  while  the  vocals  are  aggressive  thrash  style  vocals  which  also  mixes  in  some  death  metal  growls.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  clean  guitars  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while t he  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  as  the  ep  progresses  melodic  vocals  are  finally  added  onto  the  recording.

  On  this  recording  Druknroll  plays  a  more  aggressive  style  of  death,  thrash  and  heavy  metal  while  still  also  having  its  melodic  and  symphonic  moments,  the  production  sounds  very  professional while t he  lyrics  cover  dark  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Druknroll  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  progressive  and  symphonic  death/thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "On  The  Hook".  8  out  of  10. 

   

Druknroll/On The Game/Metal Scrap Records/2016 CD Review

  Druknroll  are  a  band  from   Russia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  death,  thrash,  and  melodic  heavy  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "On  The  Game"  which  was  released  by  Metal  Scrap  Records.

  A  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  lead  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  heavy  riffs  and  symphonic  synths  a  few  seconds  alter  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  after  awhile  aggressive  screaming  vocals  and  death  metla  growls  make  their  presence  known.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  clean  singing  is  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  clean  guitars  are  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  when  acoustic  guitars  are  utilized  they  give  the  songs  a  more  progressive  edge  and  elements  of  thrash  are  also  mixed  into  the  faster  sections  of the  music  and  female  vocals  are  added  onto  the  closing  track.

  Druknroll  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  mixture  of  death,  thrash,  symphonic  and  melodic  heavy  metal  from  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  real  life  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording f rom  Druknroll  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  death,  thrash  and  heavy  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Wolf"  "My Role"  "In  The  Depths  Of  No  Return"  and  "Tears". 8  out  of  10.
