Lavatory are a band from Malaysia that plays an old school form of Swedish style death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Morbid Terror" which will be released in October by Pulverised Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album along with some classical guitars a few seconds later and after the intro the music starts going into more of a heavy and melodic direction along with some blast beats and the band also uses a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts throughout the recording.
When vocals are added into the band they bring in the death metal style of 88-91 era as well as using some deeper growls and screams as well as having a more original approach with the way the vocals are utilized and they also put a decent amount of melody in the riffs, solos and leads and you can hear a good mixture of both old school American and Swedish death metal influences being mixed into their musical style along with a great amount of raw aggression.
Lavatory plays a style of death metal that is heavily rooted in the mid 80's to early 90's era of the genre taking the melody of rawness of the Swedish bands and mixing it in with the heaviness of the American variation of this genre to create an album t hat is 100 percent death metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover corpses, gore and death.
In my opinion Lavatory are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Descent Into Madness" "Morbid Terror" "Miserable Life" and "To The End Of The World". 8 out of 10.
