Pulvis Et Umbra are a band from Italy that plays a mixture of death and thrash metal with a touch of metalcore and this is a review of their 2014 album "Implosion Of Pain" which was released by Pavement Entertainment.
Electronic music sounds and spoken word samples start off the album and after the intro the music starts going into a modern day mixture of death and thrash metal along with some hardcore style vocals that also mix in death metal growls at times and a decent amount of melody and blast beats and the solos and leads that the band uses bring a melodic sound to the bands musical style along with a small amount of clean parts.
Spoken word parts do make their return in certain sections of the recording and you can also hear elements of groove metal in the bands musical style along with a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the tracks bring whispers into certain sections of some of the songs along with a slight middle eastern feeling being brought in on one of the tracks and the blast beats also bring in a brutal sound at times.
Pulvis Et Umbra plays a very modern style of extreme metal that mixes thrash, metalcore and groove with the heaviness to create their own style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion Pulvis Et Umbra are a very decent sounding mixture of death metal, thrash and metalcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lost Moon" "Implosion Of Pain" "Ordinary Scars" and "Look Through The Eyes". 7/5 out of 10.
