Skelethal are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 cassette "Interstellar Knowledge of the Purple Entity" which was released by Caligari Records.
Dark and evil sound effects start off the ep along with some horror movie style keyboards and after the intro the music goes into an old school death metal direction along with some blast beats and morbid sounding melodies and the vocals bring in a great amount of growls and the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When solos and leads are brought into the music they add in more of a chaotic style of death metal when they are utilized and the keyboards from the intro are also added into some of the tracks briefly along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and they close the cassette with a cover of Carnage's "Torn Apart".
Skelethal remain true to the old school death metal sound that was presented on the previous recording and also bring out the best of the early 90's Swedish style with their songs, the production sounds very old school yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics cover horror and occult themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from from Skelethal and if you are a fan of old school death metal, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sabbatical Demonic Invocation" and "Slaughtered From beyond". 8 out of 10.
