Disgrace are a band from California that plays a mixture of hardcore and death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "True Enemy" which will be released in march by Closed Casket Activities.
Distorted sounds start off the album before going for more of an old school death metal direction along with vocals that combine growls and aggressive hardcore style vocals together and the music also mixes in a great amount of breakdowns from the later mentioned genre as well and while the music sounds very 90's orientated the production gives the songs more of a modern day feeling.
At times you can hear a decent amount of melody coming out of the guitar riffs and the songs also stick to mostly a slow to mid paced musical direction while there are a small amount of fast parts and a brief use of blast blast beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When solos and leads are utilized which are very rarely they bring in even more of an early 90's extreme metal sound to the bands musical style and some of the alter tracks also bring in more modern metalcore elements at times and there is also a brief instrumental that introduces acoustic guitars to the recording while the remaining tracks show the music returning back to a heavier musical direction and the last song also brings in a small amount of melodic vocals which also gives the recording a touch of groove metal.
Disgrace takes the early 90's styles of hardcore and death metal and mix them together with a touch of modern metalcore which also gives their musical style more of an up to date feeling, the production has a very professional sound while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Disgrace are a very great sounding mixture of death metal and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "True Enemy" "Uncreation" "The Wall" and "The Dawn". 8 out of 10.
