Hostilian are a band from India that plays a mixture of death and groove metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 ep "Monolith".
Death metal growls and groove metal riffing starts off the ep while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the riffing also bringing in a decent amount of melody.
When solos and leads a re utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some touches of modern thrash while the vocals also add in aggressive screams at times and the music always remains heavy.
Hostilian plays a musical style that mixes death and groove metal together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover angry themes.
In my opinion Hostilian are a very great sounding mixture of death and groove metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Culling" and "Warbringer". 8 out of 10.
