Repaid In Blood are a band from San Jose, California that plays a progressive mixture of death metal and metalcore to create a musical sound they refer to as 'geek metal' and this is a review of their self released 2017 ep Terra Mourning".
Acoustic guitar playing along with some melodic guitar leads start off the ep and spoken word samples are also used briefly before going into a heavier musical direction which also introduces death metal growls and screams onto the recording while also taking the leads in a more progressive direction.
A great amount of metalcore elements can be heard in the bands musical style along with some touches of prog metal while clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with spoken word samples also returning at times and the vocals also mix in a brief touch of groove metal and all of the music sticks to a mid tempo direction and they close the ep with a cover of Salt'N'Peppa's "Push It"..
Repaid In Blood plays a musical style that takes prog and death metal and mixes it with metalcore to create something different, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Repaid In Blood are a very decent progressive mixture of death metal and metalcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Moments Lost In Time Like Tears In The Rain" and "Terra Mourning". 7/5 out of 10.
