Unaussprechlichen Kulten are a band from Chile that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very dark and occult form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Baphomet Pan Shub-Niggurath" which will be released in September by Dark Descent Records.
Dark ambient sounding sunths starts off the album and gives the music a very occult and ritualistic sound before going into a heavier death metal direction along with some growls and evil sounding melodies that are true to the early 90's tradition which also leads up to some solos and screams.
After the intro the music goes into a more raw and old school death metal direction along with some blast beats and the band also uses a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos seem to be heavily influenced by both Morbid Angel and Immolation and some of the tracks also display some of the old school brutality and darkness of the legendary satanic and occult death metal bands and as the album progresses you can hear a great amount of talent and skill in both the bass playing and guitar riffing and the band also shows the ability to make the faster and brutal stuff sound very ritualistic.
Unaussprechlichen Kulten remain true to their raw and old school approach to occult death metal and have created one of the best albums so far this year for this musical genre, the production has a very heavy and powerful sound while the lyrics cover Lovecraft, Necronomicon and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Unaussprechlichen Kulten and if you are a fan of old school occult death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Hooded Baphomet Bleated" "Ceremony Of Belial and "Nomen Mysticum". 8/5 out of 10.
