Meatwound are a band from Florida that has been featured before in this zine and plays an industrial form of death metal with elements of hardcore, noise rock and punk and this is a review of their 2017 album "Largo" which will be released in My by Magic Bullet Records.
Distorted noises start off the album along with some heavy bass guitars and elements of noise rock a few seconds later as well as some aggressive industrial style vocals and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the music mixes in the heaviness of death metal.
Elements of hardcore can be heard in the music at times and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very raw and distorted yet melodic fashion and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while black up shouts are also used at times and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's.
On this recording Meatwound takes death, industrial metal and noise rock and mixes them together to create a very dark and heavy recording, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Meatwound and if you are a fan of death metal, industrial and noise rock, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRRACKS INCLUDE "Séance" "Reproduction Blues" and "largo". 8 out of 10.
