Veld are a band from Belarus that plays a very extreme and brutal form of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Daemonic: The Art of Dantalian" which will be released in April by Lacerated Enemy Records.
Ethnic style instruments and orchestra sounds start off the album and after a minute spoken word samples and ambient sounds are added onto the recording and after the intro the music starts to get a a lot more dark, heavy and melodic before going into more of a brutal death metal direction along with a great amount of blast beats.
Vocals are all death metal growls and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some technical elements being utilized at times and the songs also mix in atmospheric elements in with the brutal riffs at times and the spoken word samples from the intro also return in some of the songs.
When solos and leads are utilized they are very dark, melodic, and chaotic sounding and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and there is a brief acoustic instrumental before the band returns back to a more brutal death metal direction on the following tracks along with one of the songs introducing melodic chants onto the recording and the last song brings in a brief use of operatic female vocals.
Veld creates a style of death metal that is very heavy, brutal, modern and technical while also having more of an atmospheric edge than most bands of the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, occultism and nihilism themes.
In my opinion Veld are a very great sounding brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "World In Obscure" "Lost Nut Never Forgotten" "Love - Anguish - Hate" and "Annihilation Of Divinity/Trust Upon Ignorance". 8/5 out of 10.
