Ceremony where a band from the Netherlands that played a traditional form of death metal and this is a review of their 1993 album "Tyranny From Above" which will be re-issued in September by Vic Records.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with some death metal growls and blast beats while the riffing also gets very melodic and technical at times while also sounding very brutal for the early 90's and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also done in a technical style.
A small amount of screams can be heard in the music at times and some of the riffs also bring in a small amount of thrash influences and you can also very melodies in the leads at times and the music also brings in a great amount of Florida style death metal riffing and some of the tracks are long and epic in length.
When sound effects are utilized they bring in more of a horror movie atmosphere and a later track also brings in a brief use of melodic singing and they also bring in their 1992 ep and 1994 promos in as bonus tacks and there is also a few seconds of clean guitars on one of the promo songs and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Ceremony played a style of death metal that was very heavy and talented for the era it was released while also having their own approach to the genre, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Ceremony where a very great sounding death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Inner Demon" "Ceremonial Resurrection" "Beyond The Boundaries Of The Void" and "Tribulation Foreseen". 8 out of 10.
