Evil Priest are a band from Peru that plays an evil form of death metal and this is a review of their self titled 2016 ep which was released by Caligari Records.
Field recordings start off the ep along with some shamanistic style chanting a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into a heavier direction along with death metal growls being added onto the recording while the riffs bring in a very fast and raw sound that also uses a great amount of blast beats.
Most of the music is rooted in the mid 80's style of death metal and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of morbid sounding melodies and the solos and leads also remain true to an old school style of death metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Evil Priest plays a style of death metal that is very heavy and raw and goes back to the mid 80's to early 90's days of the genre, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Evil Priest are a very great sounding old school style death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Great Snake" and "Evil Priest". 8 out of 10.
