Horrid are a band from Italy which also has a history that goes back to 89 that plays a very occult and old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Sacrilegious Fornication" which will be released by Dunkelheit Produktionen.
Horror movie sounds start off the album along with spoken word ritualistic parts which also leads up to a very dark, melodic and old school death metal sound in the primitive Swedish tradition as well as some growls and blast beats and the music also starts to get faster and more aggressive as well as having a very evil atmosphere.
The music on this album is heavily rooted in the Swedish sound of the early 90's while also having some of the more raw element s of the early American death metal bands as well as having some evil sounding melodies and a very dark lyrical content that is closer to black than death metal.
The songs go back to the evil, rawer and darker nature of old school death metal but with a more modern sound and production and they also bring in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts to keep all of the songs to sound very interesting, diverse and blasphemous and at times the growls sound very guttural and demonic in certain sections of the recording and all of the musical instruments and growls dominate the recording.
Horrid have a very evil sound to their music that can only be done by veterans and the music is very true to what death metal was meant to sound like, the production is very professional sounding and the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Necromancy and Blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Horrid are a very great sounding old school, occult death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should c heck out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Necromancy" "Blood On Satan's Claw" and "Goddess of Heretical Perversity". 8/9 out of 10.
