Monumentomb are a band from the United kingdom that plays an old school form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Ritual Exhumanation".
A ritualistic sounding intro before dark and melodic sound starts off the ep as well speeding up a bit and adding in blast beats and more raw aggression which leads up to growls and a more mid 80's style of death metal which also has a thrash feeling at times and the band also brings in a great amount of melody into their music.
The guitar solos and leads enhance the melodic feeling of the recording along with a small amount of high pitched screams and a lot of the tracks have a Swedish death metal feeling to them along with a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the rawness of the early Florida bands and the band never add in any influences from the metal genres of the last 20 years into their music except for maybe the melodic vocals they utilize briefly.
Monumentomb are another younger band going back to the roots of true death metal and adding in their own melodic take on t he genre and while the songs are not very original they are still played in the true ways of death metal, the production has a very dark, raw and old school sound and the lyrics cover darkness, evil and death.
In my opinion Monumentomb are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "In The Crypt Devoured" and "Ritual Exhumanation". 8 out of 10.
