Casket Robbery are a band from Madison, Wisconsin that has been featured before in this zine and plays a groove orientated form of brutal death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 ep "The Ascension" which will be released in August.
Horror movie style samples start off the ep along with some death metal growls and heavy riffing a few seconds later that also adds in elements of groove while the riffs also add in a small amount of melody at times and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and melodic vocals can also be heard briefly and a small amount of blast beats can be heard while the main focus is on a mid paced style and the music also has an atmospheric touch at times while also always remaining very heavy and brutal.
Casket Robbery creates another recording that remains true to the brutal groove orientated style of death metal from previous releases, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover occultism, serial killers and gore themes along with a concept to them.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Casket Robbery and if you are a fan of groove orientated death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Lilith". 8 out of 10.
