Ursinne are an international band consisting of underground veterans from Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom that plays an old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Swim With The Leviathan" which will be released in August by Transcending Obscurity Records.
Distorted amp sounds start off the album along with some heavy yet melodic riffs a few seconds later along with the guitar leads also mixing in a great amount of dark sounding melodies and after awhile death metal growls make their presence known along with most of the music being rooted in the 90's.
A lot of the riffs mix the early United Kingdom, Swedish and Dutch styles of death metal together and spoken word parts are also used briefly while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of blast beats and they also bring in Osmonds, Vapors, Queen, and Siouxsie And The Banshees covers as well as a brief use of melodic vocals and synths.
Ursinne plays a style of death metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's style of the genre and true to the style the band members are known for with their other groups, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Ursinne are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Devil May Care" "Chimes Of Midnight" "Hollow Hearse" and "Spellbound". 8 out of 10.
