Dead Soul Alliance are a band from Ottawa, Canada that plays an old school form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Slaves To The Apocalypse".
Sci fi style soundscapes along with some movie samples start off the album before going into a heavier direction along with some death metal growls and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and 90's influences.
When solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and spoken word samples a re also used on some of the later tracks and high pitched screams can also be heard briefly and some of the single note riffs also bring in a small amount of tremolo picking.
Dead Soul Alliance plays a style of death metal that goes back to the early 90's era of t he genre, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover conspiracies, paranormal, anti religion, philosophical and cryptic lifeforms themes.
In my opinion Dead Soul Alliance are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Worlds Within Worlds" and "Forever Against". 8 out of 10.
