Lacerta are a band from Australia that plays a very technical form of death metal and this is a review of their self titled 2017 album which will be released in April by CDN Records.
Sci fi orientated sounds start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction which also uses a decent amount of melody and harmonics while the vocals are mostly death metal growls and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard along with t he music getting very technical.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with t he solos and leads remaining very true to a technical style while the riffs also mix in a great amount of old school death metal influences along with a touch of thrash while also still sounding very modern and some of the fast riffs also bring in a small amount of tremolo picking while a later track brings in a brief use of acoustic guitars and some of the tracks are long and epic in length while also mixing in a brief use of grim screams.
Lacerta plays a style of death metal that is mostly rooted in the technical form of the genre while mixing both the old school and modern styles together, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover science fiction and alien themes.
In my opinion Lacerta are a very great sounding technical death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pillars Of Deceit" "Incubation Of Tyrants" "Ambiguous Forms" and "Mind Processor". 8 out of 10.
