Trilateral are a band from London, Ontario Canada that plays a mixture of progressive and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Elliptic Orbits".
A very heavy and progressive sound starts off the album and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording along with a mixture of death metal growls and screams and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the songs and the solos and leads also bring in more of a prog style.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with a couple of instrumentals and the songs also mix in traces of jazz fusion and a brief use of tribal style beats are added onto a later track and also bring in more of a shamanistic feeling and elements of djent are also added into some of the riffs.
Trilateral plays a musical style that takes progressive and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark, philosophical and mythological themes.
In my opinion Trilateral are a very great sounding mixture of progressive and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cloud Forest" "Whalefall" "Charon" and "Arbitrarium". 8 out of 10.
