Virulent Depravity are a band from Tennessee that plays a very technical form of death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Fruit Of The Poisoned Tree" which will be released in April by The Artisan Era Records.
Clean guitar playing and melodic leads start off the album along with some heavy yet technical riffing a few seconds later and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording while the vocals are mostly death metal growls and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
A great amount of the leads add in progressive and technical elements and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and screams can also be heard at times and they also mix in jazz influences with the heavier sections of the songs and clean playing also makes a return in certain sections of the recording along with some of the riffing adding in touches of modern prog metal and there is also a brief use of acoustic guitars and pianos and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and spoken word parts are also added on the closing track.
Virulent Depravity plays a style of death metal that is very technical while also mixing in prog and jazz music elements which also makes the music stand out a lot more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover philosophical and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Virulent Depravity are a very great sounding technical death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Serpentine Messiah" "Desecrating Eden" "Beyond The Point Of No Return" and "Futuristic Filth". 8 out of 10.
