Mordatorium are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a very old school form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Obsessed With Death" which will be released in August.
A very heavy guitar sound along with some drum beats and morbid sounding melodies start off the album as well as adding blast beats into the faster sections of t he songs and the vocals are mostly death metal growls along with all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
A lot of early 90's Bristish and Swedish influences can be heard in the bands musical style along with some grim screams also being used at times and all of t he tracks sound like they could of easily been recorded and released more than 25 years ago and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music always remains very heavy.
Mordatorium plays a style of death metal that is very old school in the early 90's tradition, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover death, darkness, and evil themes.
In my opinion Mordatorium are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Obsessed With Death" "Biting Cold" "The Gallows" and "Catastrophe". 8 out of 10.
