Planet Eater are a band from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada that plays a mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Blackness From The Stars".
A very heavy sound starts off the album along with some angry shouts that are more on the aggressive side of thrash while also utilizing death metal growls at times and the music also mixes in a lot of modern extreme metal elements and the guitar leads are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffs also add in grooves and melodies at times and the music always remains very heavy.
Planet Eater plays a musical style that takes modern thrash and mixes it in with the heaviness of death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Planet Eater are a very great sounding mixture of death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Boats" "Lies Evolution" "A Fault To Fix" and "Blackness From The Stars". 8 out of 10.
