Affliction Gate are a band from France that plays a very traditional form of death metal and this is a review of their2016 ep "Dying Alone" which was released by Transcending Obscurity.
Death metal growls and a fast sound that utilizes a great amount of blast beats start off the ep along with a great amount of morbid sounding melodies and after awhile the songs start bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a great amount of influences from the 90's era of the genre.
While the music does have a very old school vibe to it the way the songs are produced makes the whole recording sound more modern and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the ep while the solos and leads bring in more of a melodic style and the music brings in an United Kingdom style of the genre at times while Dutch and Swedish influences can also be heard at times and the whole ep also remains very heavy from beginning to ending of the recording and the last track also brings in a brief use of spoken word parts.
Affliction Gate plays a style of death metal that is very traditional and manages to sound modern without following any modern trends, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark perspectives, strength and death themes.
In my opinion Affliction Gate are a very great sounding death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Negative Lucidity" and "Dying Alone". 8 out of 10.
