Badass Commander are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a very old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Bad Intentions" which was released by PRC Music.
A very heavy and old school 90's style death metal sound starts off the ep along with some blast beats and growling vocals that are more closer to the mid 80's style of the genre and the riffs also mix in a lot of morbid sounding melodies and some of the riffs bring in an influence of thrash at times.
While the music has a very old school and retro vibe while the production gives the songs more of a modern feeling and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there are no guitar solos and leads to be heard anywhere on the recording and the whole album also remains true to a very heavy musical style from beginning to ending of the recording and one track brings in a more guttural vocal approach.
Badass Commander plays a style of death metal that is very heavy rooted in the mid 80's and early 90's while also having a slight touch of the modern style which also makes the music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Badass Commander are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bad Intentions" "You Are At Death's Door" and "Depravity". 8 out of 10.
