Comatose are a band from the Philippines that plays an old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "The Ultimate Revenge" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and Darzamadicus Records.
A war orientated sounding intro starts off the album and after the intro the music starts going into more of a heavier direction along with some death metal growls and dark yet melodic guitar leads and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When solos and leads are utilized they bring in a very primitive mid 80's style of extreme metal and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and high pitched screams can also be heard at times and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and all of the songs sound like they could of easily been recorded and released 25 years ago and the whole album also remains true to a very heavy and old school death metal style while some riffs also bring in a touch of thrash.
Comatose plays a style of death metal that is very old school and goes back to the mid 80's and early 90's days of the genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Death, War, Anti Religion and Dark History themes.
In my opinion Comatose are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Ultimate Revenge" "Prophets Dream" and "Rivals Of the Throne". 8 out of 10.
