Dig Me No Grave are a band from Russia that plays a very old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Cosmic Cult" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records, Rebirth The Metal Productions, Dark East Productions and Suicidal Nihilist Productions.
A very fast and brutal death metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats, morbid sounding melodies and growling vocals before bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present throughout the recording.
High pitched screams can be heard in some parts of the songs and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic style and while the music has its roots in the 90's, the way the songs are produced gives the album more of a modern feeling while there are a great amount of American death metal influences present throughout the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the whole album also sticks to a heavy musical direction throughout the recording.
Dig Me No Grave plays a style of death metal that is very pure, always heavy while also bringing in a very dark atmosphere, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Lovecraft, horror and blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Dig Me No Graves are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Through The Gates" "Cosmic Cult" "Shrine Of Blasphemy" and "Rise Of Madness". 8 out of 10.
