Hautajaisyo are a band from Finland that plays a melancholic mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self titled 2015 album which was released by Inverse Records.
Death metal growls start off the album before the music goes into a faster direction that also uses a lot of blast beats while also keeping around the vocals and you can also hear a lot of morbid sounding melodies in the guitar riffing and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A lot of thrash elements can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the vocals also bring in a small amount of clean singing at times which also gives the music a touch of power metal and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads when t hey are utilized bring in a very melodic and depressive sound to the bands musical style while some of the riffing also brings in a touch of speed metal and as the album progresses back up gang shouts can be heard in certain sections of the recording and one song also adds in a brief use of acoustic guitars while some of the fast riffs also use tremolo picking..
Hautajaisyo takes death and thrash metal and mixes in with melancholic melodies to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover melancholy, desperation, self destruction and death themes.
In my opinion Hautajaisyo are a very great sounding melancholic death/thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Jokainen Kuole Vuorollaan" "Aamulla Vainaa" "Pirun Pesa" and "Taman Vainajan tahden". 8 out of 10.
