Just Before Dawn are an international band with members from Sweden, Germany and Mexico that play a very old school form of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "The Dead And Those About to Die" which was released by Chaos Records.
War samples start off the ep before going into more of a heavy Swedish style of death metal direction that also has a perfect balance between melody and heaviness along with some high pitched screams and growling vocals and the music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's style of the genre.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain true to an old school style of death metal and while the music has an old school vibe the production gives the songs more of a modern day feeling and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples and the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced musical direction while also remaining very heavy at the same time and one of the tracks is very long and epic in length while on another song the vocals add a semi melodic tone to the growls.
Just Before Dawn plays a musical style that is very heavily rooted in the 90's style of Swedish death metal while also updating the style for modern times as well as keeping everything in a mid tempo direction, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover war themes.
In my opinion Just Before Dawn are a very great sounding Swedish style death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grave Without Crosses" and "Through A Rain of Fire". 8 out of 10.
