Antropofago are a band from France that plays a very technical and brutal form of death metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Aera Dementiae" which was released by Kaotoxin Records.
Church choirs and spoken word samples start off the album along with some demonic vocals a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into more of a brutal death metal direction along with a great amount of growling vocals while the solos and leads are done in more of a technical style.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also b ring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear a brief use of spoken word parts and the riffs also use a great amount of melody and as the album progresses the vocals start utilizing more high pitched screams and there is also a brief use of classical guitars while the main focus remains more on a technical and brutal style.
Antropofago plays a style of death metal that is very brutal and technical while also demonstrating a great amount of talent and skill as musicians, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism and Philosophical themes.
In my opinion Antropofago are a very great sounding technical and brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Encounter With The Doppleganger" "Helter Skelter" "The Other Me" and "Insania Lupina". 8 out of 10.
